Hello everyone,

I have a very good condition 1994 Fireblade (893cc) with tons of add ons. It has 20,000 miles on the clock, a Scorpian end can, colour matched... everything... rear hugger, just been serviced at my local garage, tax and test etc... Worth £1500.

I adore EVERYTHING about the bike, except commuting on it and the insurance at 21 is a bit pricey. I'm considering an SV 650.

Would anyone be interested in a swap?

Bootnote... Black is the only colour I'll ever own a motorcycle in! :P

Haha, yes. Clocked that after I posted it, the base colour is black... the rest is yellow, and PURPLE!

Another bootnote... I've got a 1998 Kawasaki ER5 with 30k on the clock worth £600 ish. Any takers? Figured I'd try and do a straight swap to save the hassle of sellng and then buying!

Might be interested in the ER...where abouts are you??

Birmingham.

ER5... Tax (June or July) MOT till April, new chain and sprockets, new rear shocks, scottoiler, loads of tread left on tyres, new front pads, rear shoes have tons of life left.

It's well serviced, looks okay, not great, only issues I have with it are the fork seals need replacing and the engine case is scuffed on the left side.

Fair enough....any pics of the bad bits?? Mileage?

Mileage is 30k (Have to go into the garage to double check but it's in the low 30s...)

Bad bits: Scuff on speedo casing. Engine case is scuffed left side, swingarm looks a bit grotty but that is pretty darn common on ER5s.

Pictures I'll have to get for you later, but it's honestly not that bad. For a winter hack it's actually pretty okay.

Okay okay, the main point of the statement about black is the only SV I like the look of is in black. Don't like yellow, orange or silver! Red isn't so bad but I haven't seen any SVs in it...

What year SV were you hoping for , ever considered a Blue one ?

By the way , that Carbon Guard on the frame , is that hiding any damage ?

Year isn't important, condition is.

Carbon stuff is because the last owner seemed to have a fetish for the stuff. Yoke protector, rear hugger, frame guards. Had the tank off for a service and the guards look cosmetic as the frame you can see is fine, but I didn't bother taking them off to check. Any viewers would be welcome to check.

And it's possible, but I have a strong preference for black bikes!

It might be important as to whether you want the old chape or new shape SV , mind you for a Blade that old you would be looking for a nice condition Curvy SV in Black .

out of interest, what is your insurance on the blade?

Xyrox

It might be old but that doesn't mean it's any worse for wear! Plus it's a pretty rare colour scheme.

It's an insurance group 17E. At 21, even with 2 years NCD, it's £1200 a year fully comp.

Blimey, i'm 19 and got a quote for under £800 fully comp. I thought that was bad!

£800 fully comp for a blade? Who through? And how many years NCD do you have?

is that standard blade colour or has it been painted?

Standard but rare. The colour code is on the bike somewhere, seen it before.

Think it was through Bikesure (aka Adrian Flux). Found the quote on www.thebikeinsurer.com
I've got 3 at the moment but 4 in march. Had an accelerated NCB policy with eBike a few years ago, accumulated 2 years in 16 months iirc. Don't forget it depends on where you live, whether it's garaged or not etc.

Bloody nice price mate!

My bike is in an alarmed garage with an oxford disc lock. Did my quote through the bike insurer too.

If I could get insurance down to that level for the bike I wouldn't even consider switching to another bike!

Spikenipple... thank you.

Turns out it was another insurance panel I got my quote through.

I just got quoted £722 fully comp.... Fireblade is no longer for sale! :D

You've honestly just made my week mate, cheers!

Nice one dude, glad to be of help.
I see why you wanted to change to an SV though, this year cost me just over £300 fully comp, 2008 SV.

Xyrox

Yeah, honestly thanks for that.

SV's are nice for the money, but I do love my 'blade, 16 years old or not! When I get a 3rd years NCD I'll be looking to upgrade to the 1000cc version if money permits it!

Ahh sorry monkimagic, I only wanted an SV based on insurance purposes, but now I've found fully comp for £700 I don't need to downgrade!

Thanks anyway :)

Have you checked that this is the case for yourself first ?
