while looking for a nice "pointy" I have seen a couple of nice naked models and was wondering what was required to get the bike from a naked state to a pointy state and probable cost in doing so??

I am guessing it will be cheaper to keep looking and find a pointy, but just wondered

Cheers

Think you may have got the pointy thing mixed up (if I'm reading it right)
Curvy is what people refer to the 99-2002(ish) models as and pointy is what people call the k3+ models (bar that naked 2009 thing). 'S' or 'faired' are the faired ones with the plastics and screen and just naked or 'n' for the nakeds.

I think it's a bit of a mess about to convert but you could ask liamsimpson (aslo in chesterfield actually) as I know he did it recently.

yeah, I just mean is it a simple bolt on to make a naked model look similar to a pointy, or is it more complex (clocks/looms etc)

I am guessing it's not a simple 5 mins with a socket set

What he said.
Pointy is the term used for bikes made from 2003 onwards. you can get "pointy" naked bikes.
As for converting a naked to a faired. I'm no expert but I think it would be easier and cheaper to buy a faired on in the first place. to convert you would have to replace lights, handlebars, top yoke, probably a lot more than you'd think :D
Anyway good luck with the search and congratulations on choosing an SV!

Yeah you need to pee about with the loom (you very possibly also need a different radiator, there's something to do with a mounting lug on the yokes - I forget) then you need to buy all the plastics which are expensive for what they are anyway and a subframe to hold them on, mastercylinder, handle bar change, cable lengths will be different etc. etc.

Like paiste says bit of an árse and probably not even economical

I'd just get shopping for a faired one - much easier.

Headlight Cluster, Radiator, Fairing Kits, Subframe, Front Wiring Harness, Clocks, Clock Surround, Mirrors, Screen, master cylinder, Brake Res, New Brake/Clutch Lever Brackets. Top Yoke, Bars (Unless you want to keep the raised bars). I think the switch gear is the same though.

Dont think Im missing anything there, wont take long to swap that stuff over but it'll cost a pretty penny. Ask Liamsimpson/Boot they've just swapped each others stuff over so they'll know already.

What year is your bike?

Well your edit doesn't have the master cylinder in, only the reservoir ;)
