I'm going to have a spare day in Sofia, Bulgaria in March, any suggestions of what to do/visit/see?

I got stuck there for a day one and it was undoubtedly the grimmest place I've been to (but mostly becasue I hadn't planned to be there and couldn't easily locate anything interesting or edible).

Have you thought about trying one of those internet sites where you hook up with a local resident who will play tour guide for the day for the price of lunch? - I'm sure you'll have a better time that way.

That sounds like the best kind of day, my advice is to free up your schedule more often.
