I'm having a bit of a clear out of the garage and here i've got a Handymate Gasless Mig welder for sale.
I bought it last year for a specific job and it's unlikely to be used again.

Works perfectly, has high and low setting on it and still has a fair bit of wire left

£60

Tempted... I have an Arc Welder I don't use... What sort of metals can you do with Mig?

a gasless mig is really an arc welder with less power tbh
how far away is aldershot, wait no no money for it.

Fairly much limited to steel with those little flux core jobs. They're not too fussy about grades as long you can find the right wire. It won't do aluminium.
A stick is fairly flexible and will weld almost anything with the right rods.
If I could only have one welder in the shed it would be the old oil cooled 3 phase (it'll run single phase) built circa 1945 when the rods were rubbish and the welders were magnificent. I picked it up at a clearing sale for $20 after it had spent years being neglected and spent a couple of hundred more on it. With modern rods it purrs.
Given a choice between a cheap MIG (or even TIG) and a cheap stick, I'd probably take the stick.

If it can't do aluminium, I'll have to pass. Thanks anyway.

Ain't aluminium a bugger to weld?

Yep, special skills needed to do a good job

Yes, not my first choice of material to weld and really easy to get wrong. It does come together really nicely with experience and an AC TIG - both come at a price. My first choice of material for fancy projects is 4130 or 4140 and either a decent MIG or DC TIG for fiddly stuff.
