Thought this website (http://www.pensnow.co.uk/) was suspiciously cheap...spent ages pondering whether or not I should buy from it...I ordered an item online on 18th Jan, still not received it. Just tried to email the place and "my inquiry could not be sent..."

Here's the confirmation email I got, no card details or prices (?):

Something slightly odd happened when my card details went through, the little padlock at the bottom RH corner disappeared..but then came back so don't know if I imagined that.

The site is really simple and looking back at it, suspiciously so :-(

I didn't spend a lot mind, hence why i went with it in the first place...the item I wanted is much dearer everywhere else.

Anyone got any clues?

If you brought it with your credit card, it is automatically covered so you will recover your money, even if they dont send the goods on.

Alternatively, they might be really busy as they are so cheap and might take a bit longer to get to you.

Fingers crossed for you.

They appear to be based in Jersey, which means their packages will have to pass through UK customs before they get sent on to you

When I order stuff from a bike shop over there it generally takes up to two weeks for things to get through

Hmm, a little digging also lists this shop at the same address:

http://www.sport1912.com/support.htm

Might be worth calling them and seeing if they know anything about "PensNow"

The address they give is that of a sports shop Wheways Sports in Jersey http://www.sport1912.com/

Their phone number is 01534 780996. Why not call them and see if they know anything about this pen company.

Edit: Beaten to it by TLW.

I don't, is the question rhetorical or are you missing a package?

MYC - their website also doesn't have a secure connection when entering personal details such as your name and address, that and the address discrepency makes my spidey sense tingle:-(

That's what I suspected :-(

Thanks for digging, I'll wait a few more days and hope my card is ok. I don't do credit cards, debit does me just fine, I like to spend just what i have :)

STOP PRESS

The www.pensnow.co.uk domain is registered to the Sports company given at the address above, I reckon the pens thing is just a bit on the side that the owner of 1912 sports runs

I'd call the Sports shop and ask them if they can let you know what's going on, the website is registered to a Mark Barnard

You'd be amazed the trail you leave on the net...

There was a lad on pistoneheads who wound a few people up, from a photo of his dad's bike and one video he posted online we got his name, address, phone number, age, parent's names, previous house owners names etc etc

Creepy internet stalkers FTW...;)

True, but I think the website in question uses paypal

Even if it doesn't it was only the information page I got to without a secure connection, it's possible had I filled in all the details such as my name and address and gone forward the payment page may have been secured

Still poor practice though...

And anna, your old boyfriend from high school has some very nice things to say about you...;)

Well unfortunately I'm not a computer wizz so I don't tend to investigate every site I buy from. I was unsure about this one and am usually very cautious when it comes to buying owt off net. I asked YC about it at the time and he said to give it a go and watched the transaction go through...we weren't sure about it but it said it went through paypal so thought it should be alright...

If this place ain't genuine though then there are contact details so I can play heck with them just on principle.

I think it's at the bank's discetion whether or not they recover the cash/refund what gets stolen off debit cards, it's usually pretty obvious and if owt happens now then I will know to mention this place....Hopefully it'll be reyt enough though.

Easy method:

When you're browsing, if you're on a page that requires you to enter anything personal look at the address bar at the top

It should start https://... not http://...

Imagine that you're standing in a crowded pub, don't enter anything on an unsecured page that you wouldn't say loudly in that pub when talking on the phone...
