Well, that's it, the bike is packed, the ferries are booked, the weather forecast looks like typical snow and sub zero temperatures:smt119

Somehow I've managed to squeeze the SLR in so there'll hopefully be a pictureful ride report once we get back:cool:
I spent the weekend in Berlin visiting a friend, and boy was it cold, even during the day.
There's no shame in wearing man-tights if it helps keep the chill out :)

Germans do have a sense of homour, but he's from the North, so it may not translate where you're headed for ;)

A beer please (one two three four)
Have an awesome time
Say hello to a bunch of my mates who are going. One of them (a Northern Irishman nicknamed Platypus) is on a early 90s VFR750 and another (some jock called Donald) will be on a Ducati ST4S, I have a feeling another ( a proper Englishman known as Bonners) is taking a BMW K series with a bloody sidecar... the poof. There are others, but I can't remember who they are exactly.

Yeah, gonna be leaving tomorrow morning ~06:45 and it's bound to be chaos transforming myself into the Michelin man and getting to the ferry without having to push it on what promises to be frosty roads...
So I figure I'll say my cya laters tonight instead:smt023

Too late, they already left. I think you'll find them setting off fireworks in the general direction of the Hun in the middle of the night, sledging down the hill into tents occupied by foreigners and generally acting like they are the invasion force showing Jerry how to behave when faced with his superiors :D

We'll look forward to seeing these man tights tomorrow night Chris.
Look forward to seeing some photos.

I wear my thermal leggings under jeans n stuff a lot in the winter, why the hell not?
but you wouldnt wanna see me in em, even if i do have great legs, they do nothing for me.
Anyway, back on topic.... Wolfyboy...i'm jealous in a way cos it looks like a totally nuts party the Elephant does. But i'm also a hater of the cold and happier here in a nice warn house than i would be in a cold tent, sleeping wearing 2 layers of clothes!
I'm sure he's gonna have a great time tho and i cant wait to see the pics.

Just a quick update for any hangers on on this thread - I'm home safe and will post a ride report in the next few days...
It's all gone very quiet!
Not on site it wasn't
Combination of drunken mumblings, fireworks and air raid sirens going off almost constantly...
Indescribable atmosphere, superb experience:cool:
Looking forward to the ride report!
If you don't mind me asking, how much did this trip set you back? Incl needed equipment but excluding the bike?

Things I bought specifically for the trip would be stuff like:
Muffs - £45
Petrol Stove - £50
Icebreaker base layer - £50
If I were doing it again I'd buy a balaclava, borrowed one off chris and it's a lifesaver...
I borrowed stuff like the winter sleeping bag that'd have cost me £100+ and never get used again, the bike already had the expensive stuff like pannier/topbox and tank bag
Motels are ~£50/night and you'll be filling up with fuel every 250km at ~15euros a pop, so 150euro in fuel
Channel Tunnel is £30 each way

Not forgetting several hundred quid on beer.....
