View Full Version : What a day

I don't believe that anyone has had a worse day.

Two work matters have gone wrong and need a lot of repair.

After work I went to Ellesmere to fetch Sophie home from shooting. Anne called me on the way back, S took the call, dad it's urgent, please pull over. One of my best people is resigning. Grrr. Gives me a severe headache.

At home, cat has brought a live mouse into the house. Leaving cat to kill it, I discovered a huge pile of liquid cat poo over the cables for the speakers. Needs cleaning up. Yuk.

Cat lost interest in the mouse so now we have a live mouse in the house.

So we started hunting for it. Anne pushed the TV forwards to see if it was behind that, and suddenly an enormous crash as the TV fell off the stand and face down onto the floor. Glass everywhere:rolleyes: Turned out if had caught the glass door to the unit on the way down, and that was the glass, not the screen.

Wife thinks I'm unsympathetic so we then had a row.

Who'd want to be me!!!!

9 minutes after your reply to Paul the 6th's thread! Do you never learn?
By the way, hope it looks better in the morning ( some things do )

Resigning, in a recession?!

Sorry to hear this Ed. If you like whiskey, I've made a ginger wine that goes very well with it and can send you some if you like ;)

Its all your own fault Ed. ;)

Actually, with the ct/mouse thing...if the cat brough ti to you live it was a preent to show its love, respect and place in the pack. You should have picked it up, gave the kitty some love and when it wasn't watching tossed the mouse out the window!
Then you wouldnt have dropped the telly and all that came.

Still would have had to clean up the wet poo tho but to make you feel better on that account...my cat did the same, on my duvet!!!! Had to strip the sheets off, spray some febreeze on it to get rid of the stink a bit before i chucked it all in the washing machine. Then take the duvet to local dry cleaners on the bike. And all this just as i stepped out the shower and was looking forward to chilling on the bed and having a smoke.

Bloody cats, lol.

Happy thoughts and lots of encouraging smiles from the BP household.

Can I just ask though, you say you were collecting Sophie from shooting?

Can she not shoot the mouse?

And can I send you a CV for the job opening you have?

Pete ;)

Could be worse mate. My gf woke up in the early hours of Tuesday morning and threw up, and continued to do so all day. Winter vomitting bug.

I had to sit through a course all day yesterday, thinking "do I feel queasy yet?" and sure enough, just before I it finished I did. I then had to drive down the M1 & M62 from Barnsley to home which took an hour and a half, desperately trying to not throw up or **** myself. Made it home, ran in the door and straight upstairs to the loo and have been chundering on an hourly basis since.

lol, I was actually thinking of a a drink and a cuddle with his wife, no that sounds worse now!!! I meant Ed have a drink then a cuddle with his wife :D

Hope things are better for you this morning Ed and the mouse didn`t keepyou awake. I suggest starving the cat for a few days and he`ll then go off in search of food.

"Every day is a nice day, its just that some are nicer than others."

If you wake up in the morning. Stretch, and don't knock against wood its not a bad day.

mice quite often take up residence inside washing machines. You will know that this is the case if you find droppings in the soap tray dispenser drawer thingy (technical term)...start setting your traps...humane ones are safest to ensure that the cat doesn't get caught....

Thanks Stingo - I won't be able to walk past ours now without checking for mouse poo in the soap drawer thingy! I can imagine the strange looks I'll get from my wife when I explain it already...

Cheer up Ed - be thankful that you live in one of the nicer parts of the country rather than the expensive hell that is Buckinghamshire.

aww Ed- what a shame..

-

eat a live frog first thing in the morning-- and nothing worse will happen to you all day ..

I feel for you - maybe you can get the unit re glazed at a local glass place?
Mouse trap ? (they like chocolate apparently)
the wires.. wet wipes- rubber gloves and some vic or toothpaste under your nose as you do it
work- no can hlep- resigning ya cant stop - unless its a ploy for more money eh.. be positive- maybe you cantake on 2 solicitors part time and increase the flexibility of staff- . like my sister in law- she in Leeds so no help but she quali solicitor now got 3 kids and would love to do 20 hours a week somewhere to get back in to it- ..

give your mrs a cuddle and say sorry - Iknow it not your fault- but you love her Ed- we all know that from how you admire her on here-... she just a home maker and of course as stressed as you about the business and implications of this solicitor leaving- ..

hope it all works out

Get one of these humane mousetraps. Bait it up with peanut butter and await results

http://www.harrodhorticultural.com/HarrodSite/pages/product/product.asp?prod=GPC-802&cookie%5Ftest=1

I used one to catch mice that were raiding the rabbits food.

Wasn't always humane though :-(

Cheap mousetrap..

A milk bottle set at a slight angle with a bit of bait inside. Mouse goes into bottle via a 'ramp', couple of paperback books, but can't get out because glass is too slippy.

Works every time.

Alternatively rub a couple of Boy Scouts together and burn the house down - end of mouse problem.

I feel embarrassed about this thread:D

Things got better today.

We devised a workaround for the leaver, quite radical and it will take everyone by surprise, but it will work well:D

Cat poo cleared up:smt119

The TV works:D It's getting old but I don't want to replace it just yet.

Cat (she's called Dorothy) caught the mouse and chewed its head off:p Left body on the doormat, waiting for us when we got home. I have yet to find the head:lol:

And Anne and I have kissed :smt055 and made up.

Ain't life grand:cool::smt023
