I have seen people in my local Tesco in something other than "normal" day wear!

Would you do it?

I've gone to our corner shop in PJ's when I wanted chocolate on a friday night at about half 9-10.....

they where pink and dotty could tell they were PJ's! Shopkepper just laughed, but I wouldn't go to tescos or a 24 hour supermarket in my PJ's

I have run down the road in my pj's but I can not be held fully resposible for this! I had a point to prove!

But I can not imagine walking round Tesco in my nightwear, be far too cold;)

Depends what your nightwear is i guess. Like Bluepete for example....now if you were some fit chick i think i'd be more than happy for you to go shopping that way, in fact i'd change my shopping habits to make sure i was there when you were ;)

On the other hand if you're a Waynetta look alike with week old stains all down the front of things then thank god they keep you out.

I don't think I've ever been to the supermarket in my pjs but I quite like walking round with bare feet :-D

This was the topic on Jeremy Vine today, one guy said he gave up shoes five years ago and so goes around barefoot everywhere. He was chucked out of Tesco's due to hygiene and safety concerns (I don't want someone's feet near the fresh produce, especially if they've been outside walking through who knows what) but apparently the Saatchi gallery in London welcomed him and congratulated him on his nice shoes. 'Cheers,' he said, 'I've had them 47 years!'

I've done the Levi ad in the launderette in Ambleside early one Sunday morning but that was after an exceptionally heavy Southern Comfort night.

Strangely enough I can't stand the smell of SC now.

On new years eve, I found a lad running down the road in Eccles stark friken naked apart from some boots.

He ran away from me and I found myself shouting up on the radio

"Chasing naked man"

Not lived that down yet either.

From what I have seen in Liverpool it must be normal practice
People taking dogs for walks in PJs and slippers
Going to the shops in PJs and curlers in their hair
I asked my mate who is a Scouser and he said that sort of thing happens all the time.
Maybe I was there on the day they were all let out????????

At the council they come to work like that too:p

Moving swiftly on... in my rebellious yoof, I was once banned from Tescos. I was fully clothed at the time, too. This is September 1965, I was 5. I pulled the bottom tin of beans out of the display and the display collapsed:cool:

Yer, i've seen it, and I wouldn't want to label people or neighbourhoods but certain (chav) people in certain (****) areas of my local town do.

tbh I think well if you have gone that low, there isn't really any hope - they also queue for their giro like this as well.

Now this is probably a touch harsh but tbh, a waste of the planets resources - there should be a cull lol

This just highlights how nasty it is too leave the house in your slippers. Slippers should be kept clean.

I walked the two miles from town with my pants off in the summer because the jeans were to tight and they were hurting me, wasn't embarrassed at all till i went to my grans on the way back to pick something up and she had a few friends round my mates weren't to impressed with me walking through the middle of town and along the main roads with out my pants on though. I've nipped into tesco for a drink in nothing but my underwear before, I don't see any problem with it really I parked next to the door and was in and out no one said anything really.

I've actually been to a tesco, asda and waitrose in my pj's, slippers and dressing gown. The reason being is that I used to live next door to both a tesco & asda. Then I did charity collections in night clothes in waitrose.

Perfectly normal.....wear what your comfortable in. Gives everyone else a giggle!!! lol

I wouldn't do it in PJ's ( they are far to embarrasing for that) but have done it in full show gear - with feather boas peeking out from under my short coat.
Think they have got used to me now though - still raises a few eyebrows

This is St Mellons, Cardiff. Same place that John Redwood (remember him, former S of S for Wales?) got into trouble for making comments about young ladies having got themselves knocked-up so as to get a Council house.

Enough said.

I text message the manager of the shop next door and she scoots round with the odd bag of sugar or jar of coffee etc, cos I won't go shopping in my dressing gown and slippers. I think she does it cos she wants to catch me or my housemate naked, cos shes a bit weird like that. I might open the door to her in my birthday suit next time :D

This whole story strikes me as a bit hypocritical on Tesco's part, my Wife used to work for Tesco's, and they had a Pyjama day for staff, to raise money for Comic Relief (if memory serves, could have been another charity).
I personally couldn't care less if people wear their PJ's or go barefoot while they're shopping. This could be because we've discovered internet shopping:)

I think the underlying reason for banning people in night clothes is because of the lack of underwear. I don't wear anything under my nightie so there is no way I would walk round a store in it. I have had the odd late night phone call emergency situation but there is always time for pants, shoes and a long coat!!

My wobbly, jubbly parts are strictly by invitation only and that invitation only extents to Chris not a store full of late night shoppers fondling their melons and cucumbers

Exactly why I have never been concerned about being broken into and disturbed by a buglar in the middle of the night. A soon as he sees me coming at him, naked, 16 stone, bright white, ginger hair everywhere, and angry. He won't hang around for long! My sister doesn't call me Shrek for nothing! :D

In my flat in Edinburgh I once almost opened the front door stark naked as somebody was bashing it in from the other side. Realised what I was doing at the last minute, decided the door was holding up OK, and grabbed my dressing gown. Opened the door ready to punch somebody and it was my drunk next door neighbour, he had lost his keys and got the wrong door! :p
