Hi All,

Just entered my Gas & Elec readings online to get my bill for the quarter. **** Me. We have used £370 on Gas alone since 1st Nov 09 > 1st Feb 10. :( That is for 2 adults and one baby - in a detached house :-s One bath is run a night for mum/ baby to share. I have one shower a morning which is mixer type. Heating is on for 1hr Morning/ 1hr Midday and 2hrs Evening - Rad Valves and efficient Combi.

Has anyone else had mega bills? Or is this the norm? Working out my annual bill based on average summer/ winter I am looking at £1700 P.A on gas & electricity alone. Damn this country is getting expensive!!

And yes I am sad enough to be at home on a Sat night working out my bills!

Matt :(

Maybe time to swap surpliers.

I've just swapped and saved about £270

Use the gas & electric comprassion on this site. Radio 2's money saving expert. I switched after hearing him talk about switching

Ur gas bill is very high for your usage.

If your central heating was on all day virtually then I would say Ur bill is about right.

I wouldnt be surprised at high gas bills for everyone this winter.

My gas bill in summer was running at about £20 per month and this winter to over £70 a month!

So with a small child, someone in the property all day then I would expect a high bill for the cold snap we just had.

Also things like cavity walls and loft insulation plays a huge part in room temp which is why there is always going to be a huge difference in price.

Also parts of the UK are on average colder than other parts so they have to expect higher fuel costs.

You always have to base any judgement on the house and lifestyle so basing on averages or the guy next door is a bit of a false one.
