Apparently it's the worst weather at the rally for over 30 years. Mates of mine are there and are sending back text reports about how they nearly didn't make it to the campsite under their own steam etc. One guy from the UK has gone on his todd onboard a Honda C90. He didn't even know where the campsite was and has no maps or friends attending, just a thermometer tied to the legshields that was reading -11C when my mates met him in Wurzburg.

Hope Wolfie's ok, but rather him than me.

Here's a video of the campsite on youtube

Well, it's supposed to be tough. But I really don't envy him!

Hopefully we'll here that he's OK soon.

I just had a call from him - voicemail... He's just back in Blighty - no details, but he mentioned successes and failures and will be updating everyone later.

Screw that. Only way I'm Camping in January is if someone's paying me. Lots.

I didn't think you guys cared!!!:smt050

Yep, safe and sound back at home, the last two days are a blur of motorways and I think an Etap in Brussels but I got back OK

Full ride report in the works, give me a few days for that, but the jist of things was it was a complete success save for my heated grips, that decided to fail 1km from our hotel in Nurmberg, they shorted down through the clutch line and boiled the fluid, popped the banjo off the end of the hose

So I had to get recovered to a KTM dealer who thankfully was still open at 20:00 and get it replaced, except we didn't know it was the grips at the time, so we set off friday and got 60km before the clutch began to go again, so I turned around and went back to Nurmberg and the other two got to the site, I got it fixed that evening and went down Saturday on me todd, met up with the guys for a cold night's camping (-12C at 9pm, and it got a whole lot colder than that)

So, aside from riding 1000km+ through snow covered Europe with no heated grips the last two days were awesome:D

Nah, Chris broke his getting off the bike...

Heated vest though, now that's an idea, by the time we were into Germany I was into thermal base layer and sealskinz socks, two T-shirts, thermally lined textiles and my one piece rain suit to keep warm:eek:

Still doesn't make much sense to me  I've always thought one of the benefits of heated gloves over badly fitted grips (ie with no relay) was that you'd never leave your gloves plugged in if you weren't on the bike. Live and learn eh
