I mean, the recycling facility. The load is a Christmas tree, various cans of old paint, two TVs, some old shelving, two broken mops, some plastic sheeting, Sophie's old paddling pool, some broken garden pots, and the glass bottles and paper that would normally be kerb colection but I'm taking them as I might as well get rid of them.

Plenty of room in the car if anyone wants me to take something for them:lol:

If your local tip is anything like mine, send the wife.

Seriously they help women and if they may think there is anything with a scrap value. Blokes have to struggle.

I tried to get rid of 50 litres of contaminated petrol (sister in law put petrol in a diesel car) and they would not take it. Where can I tip it then. you can't it would be illegal.

uncle went tip with a trailer of bags of horse manure from his stables.

sorry - your trailer is too big (on his second visit) you can only have a trailer a specific size limit or you classed as business use.

so if I have a smaller trailer how many times can i come-

oh as often as you want !.

ha

extra petrol same amount of Sh!t - literally- but worse on the enviromnment and his time.

crazy crazy rules.

AND - youhave to bloody sort it all for them these days and park miles away from the skip you need.

you have to apply for a form to take a trailer to out local tip. it asks how many axels does it have?
and you have to submit your reply by email and take your print out to the tip.
This was 3 years back when I decided to cut down 5 conifer trees in my back garden and strap them onto my bike trailer...
since then I found out that the works skips are great at taking all the crap!

Our tips pretty good, though its a bit like a quiz show trying to find the right place for stuff. You even have a place to recycle all those useless energy bulbs that last hardly any time at all and dont fit your shades.

A lot of diesel engines will run fine on 25-50% petrol at least for a few hundred miles. I believe 5-10 % petrol is safe for most diesel engines long term. So just add a 5l can every time you refuel the diesel rather than waste it. Dont put diesel in your bike - I got a tiny bit in the cbr from a old petrol can maybe 100ml, fouled up the plugs and had to drain the carbs and change plugs to get it to start again. Can you take some junk for me to the tip and I'll take your old petrol/diesel mix :)

I tried to get rid of 50 litres of contaminated petrol (sister in law put petrol in a diesel car) and they would not take it. Where can I tip it then. you can't it would be illegal.

I pumped contaminated petrol straight from my Golf diesel into my housemates Pug 406 when I did that. The Golf was almost empty when I filled it up, so the fuel wasn't that contaminated with diesel and the Pug smoked for a while until the diesel had all been burnt off, but regular refilling with petrol helped to dilute it down over the following weeks. The emissions were ok at the next MOT so it obviously hadn't affected the cat.

The Golf started fine after I'd filled it with diesel and not petrol, but was a bit gutless and jerky for the first 200 miles, then I filled up again and it ran fine for about 130K miles.
