I have to remove my hard drive from my sony vaio too and use it as a slave or something to get it actross to my new one?? old laptop is dead as a dodo wont even turn on- motherboard dry joint or something..
maybe I can strip it down and sell it for parts on flea bay ..

Quiff, don't strip it down, just wizz down to your local supermarket in your cage, with the window wound down and go round offering it to all and sundry in a broad cockney accent.
'Oi mate, wanna buy a laptop'
True story - happened to me in Cosco car park Thurrock
Then you'd just drive off after flogging it to some poor sole

You'd need a tower quiff to plug the old vaio hard drive into then from there you can* transfer stuff off the vaio harddrive and onto the tower's harddrive then it's much easier to get from their to the new lappy.
Afraid I don't have a disc sorry.
* providing the harddrive is not copmpletely knacked- however if the vaoi broke because of mother board failure the harddrive should be aiight.

Oh and your best bet is to sell it as a complete jobby on ebay 'for spares & repair' however I'd advise you keep the old harddrive out of it, transfer your stuff then destroy it and bin it.

Nope, you can buy a lead that connects to the ide or sata drive, which connects via a USB port.
I've got 2 versions both IDE, one powered, one for laptop drives. If you want to borrow either let me know
