Garage lighting

What's the best wireless garage lighting solution going? I've managed to rent a garage downstairs but it has no light. I've seen those JML wonder bulb things but something tells me the light would be pathetic.

Yeah they are rubbish. I have one in my 6x8' shed and it barely lights up that. And the batteries don't last long either.

Decent light? you're looking at either something powered from a huge battery or buying a generator.

I use a Halogen Light like the one here (http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/chl500td-halogen-floodlight-500w230v). There are also floor type ones that I've used with Stretchie as he has one with a built in extension cable and twin free standing ones.

The single is pretty good but I could do with another to light the garage from both sides. The only problem I have is with the bulbs burning out a bit quick so the next time I need to replace one I'm going to drop the wattage a little and see if that makes any difference.

Car battery and a couple of 12V florrys - like these: Clickety click! (http://midsummerenergy.co.uk/buy/low-voltage-fluorescent-lights/) Those are simply the first examples Googley found, they can often be found at camping and caravan suppliers or similar, depending on how much light you need you could just get the clippy types or fix something a bit more permanent, bear in mind that lots of light is great - but obviously you pay for it in battery life.
Also go to the DIY shop and buy the cheapest tub of white emulsion you can find and slap it all over the inside of your garage - whatever amount of light you've got it's way more effective when the area to be lit is light.

When your lighting fades take the battery home and recharge it.

get a cheap genny, crap lighting is a waste of time. I only have a small 20ft garage and have 3 double flurencent fittings and still resort to three additional spotlamps over the bench, over the drill, and pointing at the toolboxes

I run a Genny in our garage and there have been days when it has been invaluable.
For those quick dashes when I just want a bit from my toolbox though, I use a Petzl Head Torch (http://www.hitchnhike.co.uk/acatalog/petzl_duo_14_led_caving.html), left over from my caving days. :smt019

Head torch or some sort of bright LED rig is more along the lines I'm thinking. It really is just so I can find my way out! Good suggestions!

I've got a 1 watt LED head torch - its really bright, I can easily use it to work by, walk the dog etc. Cost £15.

Rechargeable camping lantern, about 15 quid and flourescant so lasts ages, remote control as well so can turn it off from the door.

You've given me an idea to light up my shed - I have a few LED indicator bulbs kicking about (not bright enough to use as indicators) and a spare car battery - oh and some broken stock indicators to use as mounts. The only drawback is it'll all be orange :-s
