I'm considering a relocation at the moment so have started trawling the spareroom ads to find a new place. And in doing so I've spotted a couple of ads that made me chuckle so I thought I'd share.
The first is just the way the final line is written, it sound like a serious warning:
Clean and modern house with good facilities. Good location with a short walk to town center but on the edge of fields with a big garden.
There are two cats.
The second ad ends as follows:
Share all facilities, includes bills, gas, electric, water, council tax, broadband. off street private parking.
Would suit working lady
I've sent this one an email asking if I can rent the room by the hour after its been let...

I'm not heading north, I'm going east apparently. Edging toward the Thames Valley section of the forum. Though things are still subject to change.
Stu, if you're having problems with your add feel free to pm it to me and I'll give you a rentees view of it.

Good luck :) I'm trying to relocate London-Reading area and it's soul destroying stuff. The two main sites, Spare room and flat share are horrendous - horrible layout and I find it very difficult to specify exactly what you want.
Gumtree is no better...I've been looking for weeks now...somewhere with a garage and no more than 2-3 others. Anyone would think I'm looking for an endless supply of unobtainium. :o:(
PT6th is looking for a flat mate in York.

You'll fit right in.

Worst thing is I don't want to relocate.
I'm using those sites as well totally agree on the layout of them, but didn't think of Gumtree so will try over there.
For me its anywhere with a garage within a commutable distance. Why there is no key word search for garage is beyond me. If the place ain't got one I ain't interested.
what do you do as a trade?

I'm a code monkey.
I just got outsourced and there is nothing here in Sunny Swindon.

I would think it's a very remote chance that you would get a garage, unless you were renting a whole house. I have rented a room in a house before and had a garage. But I would not let anyone use my garage now.
Nowadays the majority of people are only interested in parking, and you can search for that.

I have managed to all 3 places in the city where I lived has a garage but you you just need live a bit further out, well for cheaper rent that is.
However I wouldn't just move somewhere casue it has a garage, some of the places I looked were just plain gross. I think saw about 12 places back to back two places were too far away (the guy that lived at one, was a nutter) the one close to here the people were just strange/werdios here was best I saw oh I have the garage to myself right now.
Have fun looking for sure, there are some nutters out there thought!

He needs a big garage too cos he's got a few jig saw's (bikes) in bits
you can use "Garage" as a search word in Gumtree. Works well for london - but haven't looked further affield. Of course there's the inevitable "Close to bus garage"...

Philbut has twice managed to get a garage when renting one room in a house. If the house has a garage, quite often other people aren't using it except for the odd bicycle so you have full use of it.
