There is a black hole on Org

People are here one day, posting away quite happily, then suddenly they are gone! No goodbye, nothing. Not just old members, but newish members too. The black hole gets them all. How else can you explain why people who are so enthusiastic and happy posting on here should suddenly disappear? :o

I think there is a certain combination of words that when typed...*SLURP!*...you're sucked into the black hole never to be seen again!

We need a plan to rescue these poor lost souls. Any astrophysicists in the house?

I think its just a combinations of circumstances... and winter.

Circumstances...I hate my job, get depressed, then just dont feel like doing anything including coming on here.

Winter, I am on here everyday when its riding weather checking out who I can meet up and ride with, there practically none of that in the winter :(

I have better things to do in summer. :)

I rotate through forums every winter, this year it's your turn.

I think you need an apostrophysicist if tis what you type that causes the anomaly...

Is it that people who joined after Stu are fickle and have very little staying power?

Some days I'm not near a computer (I post mostly from work) so just don't get on.

Lissa, you've got it all wrong! The black hole is the org! Just look at the new themes! Those that disappear have either reached escape velocity or been crunched into the singularity. Except Paul - he was just on a long orbit ;)

...and we have a few comets, they come close but then bugger off for 30 years.

Sometimes sad things happen that make it hard to be cheerful on the org and on those days I can't bring myself to post. Maybe others find the same. Blessed be, people.

I'm still here, just been without a bike for a while (and a dislocated shoulder didn't help).
But as you can see from my Avatar, I'm on 2 wheels again (well I will be on Monday if this bl**dy snow stops).

I've always read more than posted, but even that has been more one sided of late, must try harder...

its nothing against the site or its followers...life just gets in the way at the best of times. balancing work/family doesn't leave much free time and when i do get some im usually too knackered to do anything. :(

This should be being sorted, please PM us (the mods) with any new details. I thought it was already sorted, but I wasn't the one working on it.

Then stick around afterwards!

I wonder if the mods could pull out the forum use stats from "phpBB forum statistics area" to add real figures to the gut impression? A lot of work I would bet. However, I have a general idea that the majority of ppl join fora, are strongly active for a couple of years , then something else in their social or interweb lives becomes more um, pressing and they move on. There's got to be a thesis in that, i.e. what positives ppl get from participating in a particular forum then how those +ves lose their value and ppl move on.

It seems to be usual and not particular to the Org.

must admit I float on and off other forums but the org always pulls me back in.. There's loads of people on here who've moved on from SV's and sometimes even riding bikes at all, but they stick around.

quite a special place :)

Since not having the bike anymore Ive been feeling a bit superfluous around here, still love the place just dont seem to have the time anymore what with all the usual work, family, work etc, probably the best forum out there though :D

I tend to stick to the Thames Valley section, and just read stuff in other sections every now and again. Days when I am not being productive at work, I'll post more on here ;-)
