seriously?

Yep, just ain't my thing, they're talented, but they just don't do it for me.

Same as the Rolling Stones, great band, but I only like a few tracks

Don't even get me started on Paul McCartney

But Led Zepplin, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, now you're talking

If you like them, that's fine, that's what music is all about, I don't try an force people to enjoy what I like - except my wife and kids :p

I like them...... mostly.

Sultans of Swing is a classic, as are Tunnel of Love and Skateaway. All on the same album. Money for Nothing is an air-guitar gimme :-)

Whoever nominated Les Boys.... good call.

Great band live, where they were at their best, but they didn't tour in the last few years due to the cost.

Oi!! Speedplay!! Nowt wrong with Chris Rea. IMHO, of course. Another that's best live, too.

Can't argue with you there.

Telegraph Road; just excellent.

Only one of theirs, (that I can think of right now anyway), that I'm not keen on is Tunnel Of Love.

Spot on.

They are probably my favorite band, the elvis song is crap though.

Good morning all.

I was lucky enough to see Dire Straits in 1978, just before they hit the big time. They were excellent! I remember thinking that they would go far.
Their first few albums were excellent, & I too think that there's hardly a poor track on them. I thought that their originality started to degrade with the Brothers in Arms era.

I do wish that bands wouldn't indulge in the reunion thing. In my opinion The Who were the greatest band the UK has ever produced. So, am I the only one who thought that Pete Townshend & Roger Daltrey looked pretty ridiculous when playing at Hyde park a couple of years ago?
Again, I was lucky enough to see The Who in the seventies, when they were undoubtedly at their peak. So, maybe I'm biased:D

Cheers.

Their early stuff is genius, Knopfler's voice might not be the best but it is distinctive and his guitar playing I've always thought was suitble and tasteful.

Sultans of Swing is classic, as Sid says, Telegraph road is brilliant to. In fact Love Over Gold is probably my favourite Dire Straits album.

I tried to sit down to learn to play Sultans of Swing once. Its in some kind of weird timing I found it just about impossible to play. Theres some strange and clever stuff going on there. I did manage to learn all the major guitar lines to brothers in arms as well. But I've forgoten it again...

Les Boys. Lol. Forgot about that one! Yes- it's weak.

I love Dire Straits. I thought Brothers In Arms as an album wasn't one of their best- though it has some great songs- the title track is amazing. The Man's Too Strong another winner...

Love Over Gold is a great album- not a bad song. My Favourite too Fizzwheel! Industrial Disease is great fun.

Live wise- I have Alchemy, but think that though I like it, Mark's voice is particularly monotonous on it- like he's forgotton what the melodies are! (or had a bit to much coke before the gig...)
