Just out of interest, what are is the point in havinghand guards on a road bike. I thought they were to stop stones from hitting your hands when off roading.

They deflect the wind and as such signicantly reduce the wind chill factor on your hands.

Probably good for taking off wing mirrors too... but I wouldn't know anything about such things.

They also protect levers in a spill/drop...Kind of.
