Hi,

Has anyone attended one of these?

What they like?
what should I expect if I do one?
What was your time? bike? car? etc

We met up on some SV's a few years ago.

I ran a 12.4@107mph on my curvy. I think a chap on a point (non S) ran a 12.2@108mph . Bit cold and headwind though, so I think a 12.0@109mph is certainly possible.

RE my car, i ran a 15.23, 15.21, and 15.27 at 90mph in my 2.0 16v corsa, but it weighed over a tonne with all the stuff I had on it. I started stripping it but sold it on before I ran up it again properly. Most XE corsas should be running about a 14.6-15.5 though.

I got those vids under here somewhere.

iv been to a few at santapod with cars and bikes. santapod is allways a nice track never been up it on my bike but a lot of my mates have been up it in there cars. its fun and worth the money i think santapod charged £15 for 3 runs but that was 2 years a go. i also now that if your on a bike you have to have a full leather suit or top and bottom that zip togever

Done allot of these back in the late 90's north weald mostly, pretty much any bike you like, £10 a run and get a timing slip afterwards, join the back of the que for the next one, that's it, I was running a heavily modified T5, best was 10.64 terminal 121mph, but it's all down to reaction time, you know in the first second or two if it's a good run or not, good fun worth doing but it does take some practise.

Cheers Mark.

T5, 10.64 @ 121mph???

FWD?

You sure, as the current FWD record is only 10.5 @ 140+mph on slicks in the UK? The terminal speed doesn't represent the time? Most guys I know in the 11's are running 130+mph terminals.

SP used to be £15 for unlimited runs (plus £5 to get in), but I think its £10 to get in and £25 for unlimited runs. Badgers.

SPod is a pro track though, fully glued, so if you want the best time, thats the place to go. I wouldn't mind taking Nelli up there still.

Trick is, go with some cars, have a good play with them on the way up there, and get them to kart any stuff you want to take

???? fwd total record?

Note I said UK record ;) We're well behined still.

There are a few FWD cards still in development at the moment though that should crack the mid 10's.

If im right about your T5 being FWD (they done a 4wd varient), theres absolutly no way you rana 10.6, esp not with that terminal speed.

I think Mark is referring to his Triumph....which I don't think is technically a T5 unless it's much older than it looks....
A Volvo T5 would be going well to do it in under 14 seconds.

Right then, he said T5, a T5 is a volvo, there-for im correct, and if he'd have just said that, it would have ended the point lol:

Standard yeah, but T5 are into the 13's with not much done to them. Good engines. The Sweeds and Norweigies love them and get silly power out of them (500-600+).

Rictus, stop being an ass.

T5* in the bike world is triumph design designation for the fuel injected engine models from 97 (T509/T595), T5 is also the common designation for the 5th terminal at heathrow, but then this isn't a site dedicated to airport buildings, so no your presumption was wrong.......;)

* although confusion with a T5 850 moto guzzi would have been understandable.....:p

A T5 is a Volvo engine.. and by saying T5 he could have meant a Volkswagen Transporter T5

I'll stand quiet then as you know how the assumptions phrase goes

tbh, i only think Nelli would run a low 11, but then its about corners, not straightline ;)

To be fair we are on a biking forum and not a car, so T5 would be a Triumph and not a Volvo.
