First of all, what a game. What. A. Game.

Secondly, just want to wish Thom Evans a speedy, and hopefully full, recovery. Some scary stuff going on right there. Also wishes to Chris Paterson who suffered and injury to his kidney.

Rough game lads, rough game.

Gutted I missed it, heard the report on the radio in the car & it sounded like a great game.

The Ireland-France match was a good one too, France are looking so good it's scary!

I take it you have heard about the injury Thom Evans sustained? Serious neck injury, was in surgery over night.

Apparently he has some movement in all of his limbs so hopefully he will make a full recovery. Leaves a question mark over his career though.

It was a fantastic game, although I was only able to watch bits of it....importantly, the bit at the end where we won...but it's like every game we play against Scotland...bittersweet. There is no better atmosphere I have found in rugby than being at a Wales v Scotland match either in Cardiff or Edinburgh. We sing along to eachothers anthems, cheer eachothers victories and are willing to admit, even after such a good victory, that if the result had gone the other way, it would have been more than well deserved.

I hope Thom Evans makes a full and speedy recovery and I also hope Scotland kicks some a$$ now that we've had our game against them! :-)

Hadn't seen that & it wasn't on the radio report I heard either. I've seen the highlights now though & I hope he recovers from that. Latest report said he has movement back in his arms & legs, hope that is a good sign... :(

I think that's true of rugby crowds in general - I was at the Millenium Stadium for Wales v England a few years back and I was a solitary Englishman in a sea of red shirts (some of whom were my mates, mind), but the atmosphere was great & even in the bars in Cardiff afterwards there were England & Wales fans all having a laugh together.

Compare that to football however...

The atmosphere at rugby games is far better than football where the players get paid far too much money.

When I used to work in a bar in Edinburgh years ago the welsh fans were by far the friendliest when they came up for the rugby.

Yeah? You may have served me at some point! :-)

Seriously though....having worked for Bristol & Gloucester RFCs and the RFU and been to many many matches, premiership and international......Wales v Scotland is like two old friends getting together to battle in an age old game.....and have fun together whatever the result. I think all nations have that with another....whoever it may be!

The atmosphere in the ground was amazing, almost as euphoric as when we won the last two grand slams. It was real edge of the seat stuff. I have to disagree that the turning point for Wales was the sin binnings, it was the change at scrum half. Cooper was just rubbish and has never made it as an international - Ritchie Rees' service was so much better it gave Wales the 'go forward' impetus they needed, like he did against England. The sin binnings made a difference to the score, but players made the difference to the performance.

What a climax! :cheers::D

.

dont see how you can compare the two. if you were at the (football) game i was at on saturday you could understand where i am coming from. i've never been to a game with a better atmoshere in years.

it depends on where your passion lies. if you adored badminton im sure you'd argue the case that a world or british final atmosphere was better than any rugby or football match.

:D If he was a club player, then that is true. As a professional this was very silly indeed, he could lose his career if Cardiff take a hard line.

I agree, the measure of "Atmosphere" is dependent on where your passion lies. IE footballer will consider more atmosphere at a derby game etc.

However, having played & watched Rugby most of my life and been an avid football fan in the past attending many games whilst at uni. My main view is that in football, it is all about your team winning, at all costs, getting the victory and getting one over the opposition.

Rugby on the other hand seems to have a different mentality.....in that most (not all) fans want to enjoy a goo dgame of rugby and will appreciate opposition who play well and deserve a win. Must admit, every football game I have ever been to I have seen I have seen at least 1 person being carted off by security for doing something daft or starting a fight. I have only seen one person carted off at a rugby match......because he pulled a moonie at the Sky cameras!!!!!

Anyway......as per the OP.......I really really hope he gets a full recovery.....I had the pleasure of playing & training with Matt Hampson whilst I was at university in Leicester (he was a young lad at Syston and then Tigers)......any back / neck injury for a rugby player is the worst thing in the world. I wish Thom well and first signs look like he may be ok.

As for the game, I didn't get to see it, but from what I heard it was a cracking match and both had moments that deserved the win. Will done Wales......but I wish Scotland would have won!!!! :D
