On the way back from the Alps yesterday/today I took a slight detour and avoided all toll roads. Top marks go to Lizard's (from Lizard Logistics .com) recommendation of the Dijon to Troyes road, awesome, even in the dark after a few hours kip in the Pug just outside of Dijon. I made Reims with the sun out and a sprinkling of snow.

Eerie in the silence.

I am gonna be in that area in the summer. Could you put a link on google maps showing exactly where that is and which road you took.

Was it this (http://www.bestbikingroads.com/motorcyclegps.php?n=N71-Troyes-Dijon&code=769b1)one?

Cheers mate.

Yep, that's the road,

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=reims&sll=49.256602,4.033091&sspn=0.229455,0.430527&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Rheims,+Marne,+Champagne-Ardenne,+France&ll=49.254074,3.931893&spn=0.003585,0.009624&t=h&z=17&iwloc=A

Should work as the map of the track.

just as well you werent on two wheels that day Tim!

Can you see the rest of it, or just the main straight ?

I visited about 2/3rds of the track, it all used to be main roads, but many parts have been altered, one section doesn't exist etc. The only bit that looks like a track is around the stands/pits, apart from that you wouldn't realise it was a race track.

is it an N road ? might be worth checking out on the bike in the summer. Whats the track day scene like over there Tim? how much and what tracks are there ? Spa ? ever been to Croix ?

Map of where the track is again ;)

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=reims&sll=49.256602,4.033091&sspn=0.229455,0.430527&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Rheims,+Marne,+Champagne-Ardenne,+France&ll=49.254074,3.931893&spn=0.003585,0.009624&t=h&z=17&iwloc=A

Track day scene is quite good, I did Croix en ternois ages ago when I was in Belgium on the SV. Did Zandvoort, Zolder and Spa last year, all good tracks in differenet ways (Spa is my favourite :D ) And then there's the Nurburgring..... Prices range from approx 130 euros up, Zolder and Zandvoort are good value, Spa expensive...

Going to try the Nurburgring GP track and hopefully Hockenheim this year, but have plenty of Ring trips already booked up.
