View Full Version : Holdup down
Just had a message from Holdup to say he has binned his bike but he is ok, apart from a cut finger.
He is currently waiting to be recovered.
He doesn't know how much damage to the bike as not lifted it yet.
But I feel there may be a parts wanted thread!

Oh no, sorry to hear it mate. 60mph must have been quite a roll. Good job you're ok.
I'm going through finding parts for my bike since my off last monday. Pretty much got everything already, and thats mainly on ebay for an er6. I'm sure you'll find the stuff you need in no time, with the org and what not.
Off's are the most surreal experiences aren't they?. One minute, you're living it up on a bike, the next, you just hope you can get up. I defo prefer the smaller dose of adrenaline of being on the bike as oppose to the huge surge followed by coming off it.

Damp i think, it was nice and dry, but damp patches, thought ahh too fast for this corner (it always sneaks up on me and ive done it 5 times...) hit the front (wrong) brake and just went from under me

Ask him if he wants to practise on mine
My car insurance went awful after a bike claim however I've since found insurers who don't rate agains tbike claims so it might not be as bad as you think. Despite having a claim on my record my bike premium still went down due to the further years (bad ) experience I'd gained.
Then again you have fully comp on a k3? I'm thinking repairs are going to be less than your under 21s excess!

Insurance regarding bike claims varies I've found only admiral and aviva don't rate against bike claims.
Yeah would have guessed your excess would be around that, I imagine your fairing would be around £100, then it's just pegs, levers, a clipon (try nobbylad) and a few other bits. might not be worth claiming. If the forks are fooked on the other hand, it might be a closer shave.

Plenty of time to get it fixed before the weather allows proper riding! You don't get off that easy.

Bike claims don't affect car no claims but you should admit to any accidents.
Of course you could always make the statement "I've had no *car* accidents" (and opposite for the bike).

Good reminder there, if I have an op next week I must remember to ask for an anti-emetic to be administered with the anasthetic. Worked a treat last time.

Dunno what im thinking yet, got some options to weigh up when i asses the damage, im favouring selling it at the moment, whether thats repaired, stripped and sold or as it is, dont really want to go through insurance but it could end up going that way.
Mainly use the car now im not at college

Infact thinking about it I don't think it was for doing what I said above, memories a little hazy but I told the advisor I had had a crash as someone pulled out on me, I was a little vague (but certainly didn't lie and when she enquired as to exactly what happened in the accident and the damage to either vehicle I told her what happened) she made her own assumption and put it as not my fault (which in fairness it wasn't and I got 100%) but as it was still unsettled because the other party was refusing to communicate with anyone it was supposed to be marked down as my fault until proven otherwise. They took my insurance off me, I argued the advisor didn't ask the right questions they said I should have given more information. Insurance ombudsman wouldn't help as it was a 3rd party policy and they'll only help with fully comp. Tried all sorts but basically it was a case of they had my money and there was nothing I could do, got screwed. The company could have easily just changed the policy to correct the status of the accident and invoice me a bit more or did what another insurance did (which was charge me the premium as if the accident hadn't happened on the basis that in the unlikely event it got ruled as my fault I paid the rest to keep the policy) but they didn't want to know as they made more money claiming they had near £100 'admin fees' and cancelling the policy.
That's how I remember it anyway, I'm pretty sure I will have moaned on here about it at the time so a post nearer the time might be more accurate.
Doesn't look so bad ....
How is it standing up on its own ?? :-)
