Hi all,

Few will know ill be made redundad soon.
with the help of my good friend rob i got myself on all these job sites.
and ive applied for jobs and had people come to me.

2 out of 3 phone calls have been time wasters. recruiters with no actuall jobs in their books.

but today i got a call from a representative at reed.co.uk and he sent of my cv to the company at 9:10 am . by 3:25pm i got another call "they want you for an interview... Monday."

Monday?! i work you tossers haha

so i need to get an excuse (a good one) for me to get monday afternoon off. bearing in mind ove already got them to let me have tuesday off to take the missus to hospital

Please help because i have to present such a lie tomorrow morning.

Thanks
Perry

Tell them the truth if you are being made redundant. They should give you time off for a job interview.

Tell them as you are being made redundant so you are going for an interview. Why do you need an excuse?

Read this Perry. It clearly states you are allowed time off for job seeking.

I need a lie

No you dont, just go in tomorrow and tell them you have an interview on Monday... whats the worst they are going to do sack you...

Are you on consultancy or have they actually told you you are being made redundant ?

Or failing that just say nothing and ring in sick on Monday, again if they find out where you have been again what they going to do fire you ?

I think legally they need to give you the time if they are making you redundant.

The other option is that you are ill, snowed in, have a family emergency or that you have thegheyness.

Glad you have an interview mate, let us know how you do.

No its not. You are being made redundant, thus you are going for an interview. Simple.

ok if the truth aint your thing i understand where you're coming from.

Try one of these.

A milk float overturned at the bottom of my road this morning and the area has been closed for the frie brigade to come wash the milk and glass away.

or

I know it sounds bizzare but you may even see this on local news later today but a door from a plane fell out the sky and hit my roof, waiting for a builder to get here and see whats what.

or

call them about an hour after you're meant ot be at work and say...i know you woant beliee this but i've been in hospital all night and only just got in. Been in agony and all the xrays the docs did have shown nothing. they gave me tons of painkillers and told me to try and sleep thru the pain till i see a specialist in a couple of days.
if they ask whats your problem was just say "personal things i'd rather not discuss"

Some of the best lies of all time there :)

I can`t understand your reluctance to tell the truth? as others have said you are being made redundant so whats the problem with time off for an interview? I`m sure that by law they have to give you time off for interviews anyway?

Yep they have to give you reasonable time off. If they can't be arsed to treat people with respect, why should you return the compliment?

Book a docs/dentists appointment for 1 hr after, or before your interview then you have the genuine reason to be off. Just so happens you'll use a bit of extra time to go for an interview.

Or tell the truth, and if they sack you or make your life hell do 'em for wrongful/constructive dismissal.

Sorted.

Easy - Go in on the momday as normal, fake a call midday (ish) from your misses re the the next days appointment saying she worried or something has come up and leave

One of the main differences between the 10k job and the 20k job is that the later will be expecting some employee integrity. One of the obvious interview questions will be around your current employment status and I'd certainly ask a prospective employee what they've told their boss they were doing today. Besides, should you be successful you'll be off to a bad start when they get your sickness record through and see that you pulled a sickie on the day they interviewed you...

You're being made redundant.
Just say, you have an interview.

They can't expect you to not try and find work, as they are sacking you?

They are making you redundant, tell them you have an interview Monday and so won't be in.

You can lead a horse to water:rolleyes:
You have a right to time off for job seeking when you are being made redundant. If you tell a pack of lies instead of using your right you dont really deserve to get the new job IMO.
