Long shot, but does anyone have the bag of bits required to fit lower fairings to a pointy? Or know where I can get one for a reasonable price?

Cheers

Somehow, I've noticed that you have been after silver lowers for a long time now. Have you now got yourself some?
These fitting kits are like gold dust BTW - but you know that! But a month or so ago, IIRC, a brand new full set of lower fitting brackets went on Egay for £32 with only 6 bids:smt102.

Robinsons Foundry do the sets, but they're £114 .

I've got some - they aint silver, but I have a local spray shop that should be able to sort that :)

But no fitting kit. I have some R&G crash bungs that fit a faired bike and, I think, replace the large middle bracket - but none of the other bits. I was hoping someone might have some bits they're willing to part with - or send pictures of where and how they fit to so I can fabricate some.

Then when it all goes wrong, I can just buy the hideously priced fitting kit with my head held high, knowing that - at least I tried

Nice!
If you have R&G's, then you don't need the fitting kit IMO. The bottom brackets are just straight bits of metal with a nut and bolt through them. Put the lowers on to see how long they need to be and drill the holes.

Just so you know, the OEM belly pan kit uses the same two lower brackets used in the lower fairing bracket kit.

Thanks Chin!

Is there a bracket that goes to the radiator?

Yes there is, but just by having a 'wild guess' that you have a K3 ;) (sigs help - don't they?), means no - YOU don't. The K3's have a radiator that sticks out more than motosliders or R&G's - I had a K3, so know this first hand!. The lowers will bolt straight onto the side of the rad. Only the K5 onwards uses a C shape bracket, which is about 2cm, the K4 uses a grub spacer, which is about 1cm.

Thanks again. We are now in pint owed territory ;)

Just need to find a few bolts, a fabricate 2 bits of metal for the bottom, and source some rubber gromets the right size, as a couple are missing. Oh and some sticky back velcro for the top. That's gonna cost a lot less than £100 :D

Hi Ophic

I was just in the Garage doing some work to my bike, and guess what?...

I found a right hand side lower fairing bracket. PM me your address, and I'll send it out to you!

That's nearly two pints owed?

Im in this same position now! Got fairing due to be fitted but cant source a fitting kit for less that 130 quid! Ive got R&G's on my K4 does that mean i dont need a fitting kit?

R&Gs for fully faired SVs replace the large fairing mounts. The other little fiddly bits you still have to source. Bear in mind the standard R&Gs for bikes without lower fairings won't do.

I've yet to fit mine. Need some more parts and I've run out of money to get the lowers sprayed up - something to do with getting stuck on my hols cos of a volcano...

Ohhh thats ****! My crash bungs are the same as these >> http://www.rg-racing.com/images/products/large/img200_1.jpg so i dont think they will work. Such a paint in the ass! Suzuki want stupid money for them!! Religiously search egay and hear to see if any pop up! Got some brand new ones ready to be fitted! :@ Can only hope i guess!

Those are the standard ones I'm afraid. Not much I can suggest. If I find any awesome solutions I'll post here.

I lost one of the radiator mounting brackets and ended up making one from some strip ally you can buy from B&Q for about a quid.

There should be a drawing of one in this thread => http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=127630&highlight=mounting+bracket

(can't tell if the pic is still there as work blocks images)

Those look simple enough. Lucky for me K3s don't need them (wider radiator).

The diagram is still there. Is this the one?

Jackk, which year is your bike?

EDIT: oops you've already said it's a K4.

I think the K4 has the same radiator as the K3. I think this because these instructions http://www.sv650.org/docs/sv650_K3_K4_fairings_instructions.doc don't mention a radiator bracket and they're for K3 and K4 bikes.

Lol! I can't see images at work, so no idea if it's the same one! It should look like a 'U' shaped bracket with one side longer than the other.

I have a K8, it'll be the same as the K4, but not sure about the K3

Think I'm just gonna grip fill them on! Losing hope

Pretty sure there was a smaller radiator introduced around the K5/6 time.

There's a chap in another thread who might start producing them. Matt_yokes.
