not being funny, i'm a wee bitty iffy about giving through charities . it says they take a small cut on that site. i'll be there on the day so can bring some cash. is it beter to give on the day (no cut taken) or is it beter for the kids to give through the site?
is there going to be a dedicated meet for SVEcosse?

It did not happen officially last year either but the town and hospital were chocca with bikes.
Be good to have one big group again.

The run IS going ahead - a small group of us have taken the task on board and it WILL happen - GCC and police have been duly informed and so far they are supporting our cause. Check out Yorkhill Easter Egg Run on facebook for details.
Let's get "cracking" with our donations everyone - thanks :smt008

charities get a 5% cost i believe. but thats on top of their gift aid which givs an additional 28p in the pound
So for every pound they get via the website they get 1.22 in the bank
but everyone is different money will be being collected on the day today
its entirely personal choice whatever way the YCF will get money.
as for a dedicated meet site that will have to be someone elses call this year. I'm going to be there from the crack of dawn. Normally its PC world at about 10 - prbably could make it 11 but that when we met at Kelvin way. Start point for this years run will be Govan Road.

yes, to echo Abs point- you will have to organise yourselves since we won't be with the SV group this year, we'll be turning the handle that makes it all work. Here's another hint.... Meet in the PC World car park as in previous years. This way you can turn right and shoot over the bridge to the meet point. Do a search for previous years info.
BUMP and check out the update first post - Hoping to have you guys suport on the day
this has been a lot of work and want to see you all there - or else!!

Anyone getting supplies from HG in Glasgow from today should be getting a flyer in their bag with the run details on it. More flyers at the bike show next weekend too.
I'd just like to point out that there are bound to be shortcomings or ****-ups this time around. We picked up the event very late on, but hey - We've got it on against tight odds. Pile on the criticism later and we'll take it on board for the much longer preparation period that 2011s run will afford us. We've even got red hot irons in the coals for that already.
***EDIT***
Dedicated domain name NOW LIVE. With basic details only for now, this will mainly be used for reporting after this years run and point folk towards facebook and JustGiving for now.

Cheers for noo,

I'll do my best to attend - but the bike needs some TLC so I may end up just giving a donation - but never say never! :)
Well done to Garry and Quedos for all their organising for a great cause!

We have had so many well wishes from people both bikers and public. Now we feel that sick feeling you get after a low kick to you know where.... At a very late stage after being told that all was well and beginning publicity, we are HAVING TO CHANGE TIME, START POINT AND ROUTE. We are due to go to press on Tuesday too. Now we need some written assurance that things won't be overturned again. Not Happy!

I'll be going this year.
Never been interested in years gone by but after my 2yr old was admitted to Yorkhill in Feb 09 my opinion has changed.
See you there for a worthwhile cause.

The assembly point is the BAE Systems car park off South St. The departure time is 11am. We want as many bikes and scooters as possible to raise awareness and money for Yorkhill. B.T.W our very own "Sunny" has played no small part in making this all happen. See you all there.

Sounds good, I might have company too, so depends on what they want to do I'll bring them along.
Pity i'm working this weekend, why change the route!
Its all for a good cause, they let marathons & 10k walks, why not let the bikers have fun,are they scared of us!
Aquila - best not to ask about the route still a sore point but if thats what they want fine we picked it up with 9 weeks to go so I suppose some route rather than no route is good. Planning starts early for next years route though.
We just need as many people to turn up and show support to help us with next years

Hey Guys,
What's the preferred donation type? Cash or eggs or mixture?
Should I donate at Just Giving and also bring a long a few eggs?
Who's going from on here?

In the run up to the run itself, we've been promoting it and doing other good deeds. Yesterday we visited Carlies kindergarten in Erskine and had a visit from some of the elderly veterans from Erskine Hospital. The guys were amazing. Check out the Facebook group for all the photos etc. Weather forecast is still looking good and the canteen facilities at the start point should be a big bonus.
The day wouldn't be complete without an SV Lunge!

Right, have donated on the site & have some eggs to bring along. Going to Largs in the afternoon for a beach BBQ, so need to head home after the ride up to the hospital to ditch the bike & grab the car.
Weather looking good for tomorrow, so should be a good turn out and a successful event.
Nice work guys.

Largs will be mobed mate,
Doing the YEERand home as need to be in Adrossan in the afternoon to roll some eggs with the kids!!!
might see you there couple of guys going from my area, they have suggested meeting in the bike training place at south street.
:smt006Can't make this due to childcare probs [ is it legal to bungee a 3 year old to the pillion seat?!].
When filling up the cage at Tesco Renfrew petrol station this morning ,I acosted a guy with a black sv [so must be a good guy!] and shoved £20 in his hand for the bucket, so at least I've donated even though I can't attend.
Hope it stays dry for you! Take care Dx
Dawn the guy you acosted was one of the Scotbikers I met on Friday and was telling him about the SV site!!
He's signed up so we'll be getting anew member shortly.
Thanks to all the ecosse posse that turned up I owe all of you a hug. I hope that the numbers can convince for a longer run next year. The good news is that the police thought it was done well and had no initial complaints! Fingers crossed eh??

Well despite the grey sky the weather was dry and then brightened up as the day went on. Turn out was good and the day went smoothly indeed. Good job to all the organizers , already looking forward to next years (hopefully longer) run.
Saw a few SV's today but no one at them to chat and see if they were on the forum. Gave my egg and donated some pounds then headed up to the Carbeth Inn for a blether!
Roll on next ride out.......:D

Met a few orgers at the hospital end but couldn't chat for long. Thanks to all, including: Jimmy numbers, Tiger55, Combatfred and mrs combat, Ramjam, Quedos and Sunny. The route will not be the same next year. This year was a rescue job and we were forced to change it.

Great feel good and proud day as usual, no matter the shortness of the route this time.
25mins front to back so I was told, so a great turn out. Anyone know the actual approx figures?
Big slap on the back to all those that made it happen. (I dread to think the hoops you were made to jump through, again and again.)
Cheers
Andy
:)
Glad to hear all went well, and the weather brightened up for you all. :D
A huge 'well done' to all the organisers, hopefully it's back on track next year by the sounds of it.
Hopefully we'll get offical figures some time today and money figures tomorrow!

"Any notifications submitted for processions which are likely to cause undue congestion or disruption in the city centre will be permitted only by exception".
I'm not sure who (if anyone) is organising this for next year, but thought I'd point this news item out as it could affect whether the run is allowed to go ahead in the future:

I am in receipt of mega document - which I'm currently trying to digest, a lot of the changes refer to Orange Order parades, but big changes for all involved. Any news on this item and we'll be sure to let everone know. Thanks for your concern and info - ;)
