Hello to All.
Just joined the forum, and thought I ought to say Hi.
Last September I finally saw the light and decided to ditch the Focus, and get back onto 2 wheels after an 8 year break. I'm now the proud owner of a K8 SV650s, and although keeping the dreaded rust at bay is the biggest bug bear at the moment, I have to say, snow and all, I'm lovin' it.
I've been snooping on the forum for a while now, but I finally had to join up. A few of my mates have licences, but none have bikes at the moment (Kids come first I'm told!), and too be honest I can't wait for their chiddlers to fly the nest before they buy into biking again.
So I'm looking for anyone in the Oxford area who might be interested in evening/weekend ride-outs, and willing to wait around whilst I brush the rust off my cornering skills.
If your out there, let me know. I'll be on the black pointy razzing around between the BMW factory, and Witney. :smt006
What about coming to The Shire Horse in Maidenhead Tuesday evening and introducing yourself to the Thames Valley boys and girls.
we are a friendly bunch and are looking forward to a few camping weekends on the bike this year.
Pop along and see what you think. don't worry too much about the distance as there are folk from as far afield as Banbury make the effort.
Oh, and welcome to the family.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
There are a couple of guys in Oxford and I'm in and out of there occasionally. We cruise down to the aforementioned Shire Horse meet every other week. Although at the mo the weather has reduced the motivation to ride for an hour in the cold to get there. Come the spring though there should be an opportunity for ride outs. TonyK is always out on his bike and will post a general invite, so i recommend tagging along with him.
Good choice of pointy colour! I'll keep my eye out for you!

Hi mate! I used to live in Oxford, now temporarily in Banbury. Philbut is also an Oxford resident, and we head out for rides when the weather gets better. At the moment it is just commuting up and down the M40 for me, and its slippery enough doing that! Hope to see you soon and one of the meets or rides, keep your eyeballs peeled!

What date is the next meet at the Shire Horse? If it's tonight I can't make it, had to drive the Doris into work, which means I'll be stuck on the A40 car park for an hour to get home. But I'll defo be at the next one - Doris pass and blizzards permitting!

Its usually fortnightly on Tuesdays, but with it snowing etc the attendance is a bit sporadic. There will be a thread up in this section everytime we intend to meet so you won't miss it.

I was about to say as far out as Bradford On Avon but then I saw the 'make the effort' bit after it and had a second thought.
I promise, as soon as I am back on two wheels, I'll be there. In fact, if someone has a bed to spare for the evening, I might just be tempted to stop over and pay a visit anyway. :p

Hello mate. I'm the other Oxford resident on 'ere. (Ive noticed another new chap also from Oxford so we'll see if he pops in to say hello). next time we do a meet you're welcome to ride down with me. We usually meet at Sainsburys on the ring road (south, by the reading turn off) and then go via Henley. All my riding is motorway at the mo, but come the good weather I'll be getting my other steeds out to play...I can't wait
if the other chap is me Philbut, Ive just posted an introducing myself thread in the tv bit that could be ignored and Ill just join in with this one. In the next street from there is a metalic rust/brown coloured sv which has been left out in all this weather is that anyone heres.?

I have to agree with the Fir Tree recommendation, it ain't half bad. If any of you are out Witney way the Plough is crackin'. Good food, good beer, good music.....just a shame there's no parking close. There is a bike store next door though (Mike Wheeler), and it's within walking/staggering distance from my front door
