Where is a good place to buy some weights paranfinalia (and I don't mean donuts...)
I had a para when I saw the pics/vids from the 24/7's last weekend and decided I wanted to do something about my shape (being loved up and having an AMAZING missus that can and does cook all the time takes it toll on the old temple you know, I suppose the beer might not have helped either but that's yet to be proven), I have a cross trainer coming tomorrow and will be pulling a Beenz (some in the South West might understand that) over the next couple of months.

I also want to dig out my old weights but need to buy a couple more dumbells. I want to have a set of four, set up for certain weights and all ready to use so I don't have to add/take off weights in between reps.
Basically the plan is to have four pairs on the go, start off with
7.5kg, 10kg, 12.5kg, 15kg
Then slide along as things progress
10kg, 12.5kg, 15kg, 17.5kg
Then slide along again as things progress
12.5kg, 15kg, 17.5kg, 20kg
Then slide along as things progress
15kg, 17.5kg, 20kg, 22.5kg
And stop there..
figured out I need 4 pairs of handles and the following plates
4x 1.25kg plates
2x 2.5kg plates
2x 5kg plates
2x 7.5 plates
2x 10kg plates
I have a load of plates at home just need to do a stock take to see how many of what I need to buy to complete the above set.
So mighty org, where to get the stuff from?

Bigger Tesco stores are doing cheap plates for 1' bars, IIRC £10.99 for 10KG ones. :):)

22.5kg is a damn heavy dumbell.
Argos usually have reasonable deals on at this time of year.

check ebay matey-you'll find that due to your location you've a good chance of picking up some heavy weight for cheap money-you can get 45kg worth of dumbells for 120 quid on ebay.

+1 i got my weights from argos, they good enough for when i can't make it to the gym.
EBAY!!! A great place to start as everyone clears out their garage over the spring and everyone has a few items that you will have to pick up but will be cheap.
Also look at gumtree whilst you are there, being close to the bristol area there are always loads of people giving stuff away so keep an eye out.
Also a long standing mirror, yes I know the comments that are bound to follow but, if you are doing loose weights you will need to make sure you are doing them acurately and precisly. It isnt quantity it is quality that will get results.
Look into getting a Heart Rate Monitor if you are serious, the ones on the machines dont give accurate readings. If you work to a program of weights you will put on a load more weight remember as muscles are heavier then fat.
Also a cheaky tip here, get yourself a free enrollment trial at a gymn, that way a personal trainer will go through the exercises that you need with you to achieve your aims, then go away and do those exercises at home for FREE.
I have to add here, that when I saw Beenze I was very impressed, that obviously took dedication and a lot of hard work, my hat is very definately off to him for his hard work.

My sis picked up a mint multigym with all the attachments and weights for £70 off ebay and she said there were a few on there.

Also remember its as much about your diet as it is about lifting the weights, so get that in check aswell ;)

I had a bit of a shock at the pics from the weekend as well.....how different I look compared to the profile pic that was taken the month before Stretchie moved in!!!
The diet is being sorted...I can turn anything into a healthy option. I lost almost 4 stone in 3.5 months about 5 years ago and it was all through my diet......and I ate very well, never hungry and I exercised like a demon. I think that's one of the reasons I've not started again yet...I know that when I do, I get very competitive with myself and push myself really hard and I've been enjoying chillaxing with my amazingly gorgeous man who, by the way looks incredible as he is.
Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to you both, it can be done. I have lost 7 stone in about 2 years, so, not too hard to do... It was like 5 stone in 12 months, but, as soon as more comes of the rest is harder to shift, rofl

by the sounds of it the latter is probably more what you need to be doing if so try this (some orgers know this system well :) )
day 1
50 pressups in 2 mins -then 55 situps in 2 mins - them 1.5 mile run best effort but defo under 10 mins
day 2
8 mile fast walk with 120 pounds in a rucksack done within 2 hrs
day 3
have a rest day
day 4 repeat day 1, day 5-repeat day 2 so on and so forth

We've got the cardio sorted as there's not point building muscle mass that you can't see for the fat that's on top of it. Dan has done all this before, so knows what he needs to do, as do I...he just wondered if anyone knew of good places to buy equipment from.
