[EDIT - Sold!]
I did over 40K miles of long distance riding with luggage on my SV. During that time I tried all sorts of setups. I found this to be the best way of carrying anything other than very small volumes on the SV. It's lockable, allowing you to leave the bike unattended without having to carry everything with you.
As it's a top box, it'll never look 'sexy', but this is the least obtrusive way of mounting it, both aesthetically and from an aerodynamics point of view. It also doesn't alter the length of the bike for parking, nor does it appreciably impair filtering. COG is also much better than rear rack mounted boxes, so the effects on handling are minimal. Crucially, the whole setup can be removed as quickly as it takes to remove the pillion seat. Ideal for those who commute in the week by bike, but want it to look pretty at weekends.
My whole setup is for sale, including:
An E450 GIVI top box (45 litre, holds two full face lids or a lot of luggage) and spare key
A K4 pillion seat (I believe this fits some other K bikes, but I'm unsure which ones),
Mounting bracket (supplied mounted to seat, but I'll include the spare fasteners and it could easily be removed if you ever wanted to put it on a rack/another bike further on down the line)
Yours for £90 + P&P (or you are welcome to collect from South Wales)
Only reason I'm selling is that I have a BMW with full hard luggage as my work bike now and the SV is being rebuilt for fun/trackdays, so I have no need for luggage on it any more.
Thread with more detail/photos of this sort of setup can be found here:
