Gennie for tyre warmers

Hi,

Just got some second hand tyre warmers for racing off fleabay. no idea of rating but they do work. Advice please on suitable (budget) generator to power them from needed from racers/track day addicts.

I got a silverline 2.2k jobbie off ebay for 85quid. Bit loud but works a treat.

Thanks for that. looks like a new one on ebay is about £220. Will keep a look out for a 2nd hand one.

The newer ones are quieter, only problem with the one I got was the fuel tap leaked, couldn't find one for my model but loads for the newer model, ended up getting one for £3, the only issue being it fits the wrong way round so the tap has to go sideways!

After trying a 2-stroke model, don't bother, they are cheap but such a pain and besides you need about 1.4KVA and most are less than that.

Don't forget that some places are already pre-wired, you'll also need something with a 16A plug, I put one on the end of a 4 gang reel.

If you can souce one, get a honda powered one 2nd hand off the bay. I got mine off a layby burger man. £90. Yes a bit noisey but completely bulletproof and understressed. Most are rated at 2.2kw or higher so good for a kettle too - essential for tea and coffee ! Can easily power two sets of warmers (4 in total) so useful if you have wets or spare wheels. The major benefit of having the honda motor in it is you can take it to any Honda garden machinery place for spares or repairs. Most other generators you are lumbered if trying to sort out an issue with some chinese motor / alternator that no -one has seen before. The golden rule with Genny's is buy cheap buy twice.
