I always think my daughter is awesome, but she always impresses me in her kayak. A little video a proud Dad wants to share :D Lowri is in the purple kayak.

Dude I was never able to freestyle! You have to do odd things to your boat that are not natural, a bit like leaning the wrong way into a bend on the bike! Lowri is just amazing IMO. I was more of a steep creek boater, a bit like that vid of Jon on the big waterfall - only not as good obviously!

Yes thanks Anna, for as much as she wants to do at the moment. She was rather demoralised after the Worlds last year and decided to retire (at 25!) But the competition bug may yet bite again, after all the top dog in US Freestyle has been (and still is) Eric Jackson who is only a year younger than me!

Me too! CT is only 25 minutes away, I really should get back to it. You should see that wave in full spring melt, when the water is brown because the hydro dams cannot hold it all back, fecking HUGE!

I've only ever been once and it was about that size, perhaps slightly more broken.

CT is running this weeked, I'm trying to convince my girlfriend to go for a drive to watch the slalom on the graveyard. Depressingly I don't even have a boat of any description at the moment, play or slalom :( still have all the kit mind.

WOW!

I'd love to be able to do that!

Speaking of brown water...

That is pretty impressive!

I could never kayak. The thought of my legs being trapped in the kayak would freak me out. At least in a raft you get thrown out. Like so.

LP, I have the video footage of my rafting trip if you wanna see it.

I would sooner be stuck in a floating kayak than be swimming and getting battered off rocks or sucked into a syphon. My roll is fairly bomb proof even without a paddle though.

The last modern creek boat I paddled even had a breather pipe to give you more time in a vertical pin situation lol.

Mike, I'm not suprised you're proud of her.. I remember doing a Medium dressage test demo on my mare without saddle or bridle, purely using weight and leg aids to get Teasle to complete all the component phases correctly. I got a standing ovation from the crowd, including the olympic rider Lesley Law and my dad bless him had tears streaming down his face. It's an amazing thing to know how proud our parents feel of us sometimes and I only hope that when I am a parent, I am as supportive and encouraging as you and remember to praise all the time.

Well done Lowri!!!
