We could go to Avebury and Silbury Hill?

Really? There's nothing there to see. I drive through there every day to and from work. Silbury Hill is a great big mound which they have now excluded anyone from climbing. Avebury is Stonehenge is it not? A lump of very large rocks in a field. :?

Avebury's pleasant enough for a wander but promise me we don't have to end up in that poor excuse for a pub for lunch!

Why not try the Bison Farm (http://www.bisonfarm.co.uk/info.htm)? You carnivores can stroke the creatures, take some holiday snaps and then go to the farm shop to buy sausages made out of them for the barbie in the evening :smt027

Shame the Last of the Mohicans isn't until the Sunday or Monday - could have had another legendary TVSF reenactment trip!

I reckon I'm going to go this way on the Friday afternoon, I'll be able to leave by 5ish.

At car speed that means I should arrive by 7ish. If anyone is up for joining me on said route let me know. The Oxford lot could meet en-route at Newbury?

I have got the afternoon booked off work

Stu, I could swing by Guildford at about 2. See if we can find any Ferraris to play with again ;)

However early we leave, I bet the furry one has already got his tent pitched before anyone else gets there.

So unhappy I will not be attending this. :( I will attempt to make an appearance at some point over the weekend. Don't forget you are always welcome to come and pay Foxy and I a visit. Bacon Sandwiches and coffee for all.

okay not all but I am sure I can find something to go in a sandwich which does not involve meat. :)

Right, we need some planning with respect to bringing stuff!

1) Wood. I remember you can buy sacks there, but they didn;t last that long and were expensive. Stu and I went to get some more but it was slim pickings. Any idea how we can ensure we have enough and for as cheap as possible?

2) BBQ. I'd love a bbq, but I can't bring the grill cos my ex has it all :(. Can anyone bring a grill or full bbq? Anyone coming in a car/van? Are we bbqing both days and do we need to bring meat? Condiments?

3) Pizza? That takeaway place? Also an option.

4) Beer run? I can bring some spirits, but bulk beer could be done with a car perhaps...

5) Something to do during Saturday day? Rideout? CULTCHA? haha. I could look into it...

I rode from Oxford to Priddy (near Shepton Malet) on Saturday and right past Bradford on Avon. There are some truly brilliant roads, and also some standing stones and prehistoric crap to keep Nick happy ;-). Si, I now know why you REALLY moved there.

I unfortunately won't be about but you should plan a route and go do some of those awesome roads on Saturday. Just watch out for the poo and gravel, as there was lots of it about. I want you all to be in one piece when I arrive in the evening!

If anyone has a Garmin I can send them my route.

No idea on cost. Surely it's not that dear if we all contribute?

HOw about pizza Friday night, bbq Saturday? That way we could get bbq stuff on Saturday after our rideout and bacon sarnie/coffee lunch at Simon's? ;) We could ask Knightrider to bring a bbq if he's driving?

4) Beer run? I can bring some spirits, but bulk beer could be done with a car perhaps...

John again? Or await Eviltwin's plan!

Options have been discussed, but no final choice yet. I suggested Sidbury Hill and Avesbury but the idea was shot down! :smt068

I will be leaving hopefully at 3-4, but maybe 5. Also need petrol and food and money.

Remedy for slight showers is ride too fast for the rain to hit you, drink so much you can't feel the rain and build a big enough fire any raindrops within 5 m radius evaporate :D

WOOHOO, my new sleeping bag arrive today, so no more waking up cold in a sub £10 Tesco jobbie! Tony I went for a Snugpak Chrysalis rather than a 10 as it was a bit cheaper (I got it for £57 delivered), and is still rated to -5 centigrade. If it's ever forecast to be colder than that then I'm not coming!
