Yorkie chris and I had a fab day yesterday and here are some gratuitious Bike porn shots from the official photographer. We tried to haggle to get Chris' shots FOC but got no where! :)

Big photos for detail! :)
... and I wish I'd had a chance to get the bike painted before we went.

You know why you couldn't get shots of Chris??

Cause the photographer was bribed into not taking pics of those ghey ass leathers of his ;-)

They had pics, just not at a price that Chris could justify... because folks would see his leathers! :)

Its alleged He offered the guy 30 quid to delete them! :D

Title is boring, I was going to call thread "fast bike ridden slowly" for pics of me lol.

The day was great, even though I was nowhere near pace of other riders noone really cared if they were held up for a few corners as they would be if it was 20 minute sessions.

Great fun, that GSXR is a bit quick.

Some pics my stepdad snapped are uploading now.

Looks like fun, I need to try an open pit lane track day one day, seems to make sense!

Never mind just the ass shot, we've already seen the bum of those leathers...at least put up another two, one of which should be side on, so we get a proper view ;-)

A Bit? :) It was as fast at 9,000 rpm as the 600 was at 15,000! ... and you still had another 5000 rpm to go!

It was quite a challenge to take on a new bike and new track on the same day. But you handled it really well and unlike the other 20 odd people flying left right and centre, didn't bin it! :)

back 'straight' is good, as it climbs and turns you can feel it pressing you into the bike. God knows how fast that was but it felt like flying a jet! Very exhilarating 8)

I was showing 235kph (146mph) as you were pulling away in front! :)

Impressive, I think I was showing ~140 on the R6.

For the record, I have no idea how accurate my speedo is :) 6 mph could just be variation between the Suzuki and the Yamaha.

I did notice I could get a lot more down the straight by taking a different line out of Coppice and into Charlies. I ended up passing a lot of people coming onto the straight by getting the power down a *lot* sooner and going under them. By taking a wide line over the brow of the hill, turning in late for Charlies and making the second apex (of the two kinks) the one to hit, I was able to get passed the bigger bikes that were all using the first kink as the Apex, and getting a good stretch on them despite them being 5-10 yards in front on entry.

I was apexing about 5 yards past the rumble strip in Charlies in this link..

Something I leaned at Knockhill would be good for Cadwell! Who'd have thought? :D

Yep, that's my line too. Normally I manage to overtake the R1's etc before they got straight, laid down 100bhp more and blasted me out of the water (before catching up again at park) :)

There were two 250 stroker bikes there and I really tried all day to follow them to see what line they were taking, but each time I came across them I was either too knackered to follow them or still on cool tyre laps.

I was also genuinely surpised as to what my fastest line through Chris's was. I passed a lot of guys on big bikes (not in a bragging sense) around the outside (up to 5 at a time) by taking it really wide and turning in late for the goosneck.
Running on the darker side of the track in Chris's 4th photo)
Its very interesting the difference a line makes in bike size. I was probably 5-10 mph faster through there than the bigger bikes because I hadn't had the power on the previous straight, or maybe because I could crack the throttle wide open and they had to be careful with those extra 80 horses? Dunno but it was surprising..

It got pretty annoying during the busier periods to get passed everyone in the corners and then have them come flying past on the straights, then hit the brakes early and you had to then get passed them on the brakes again. I ended up rolling off the throttle on several occasions to let them get far enough ahead to get some empty track. But then thats the exact reason Open track days are so good. Head in for a cuppa and then head back out again! :)

I'm definitely going to do another OPL day, it was worth the full price just for the last 10-15 lap session, like having your own private track!

... because almost everyone else had fallen off! :D :D

The last hour there were maybe 5 bikes left on the track! Nice! :)

I need to get on one of these soon.
I think it would be ideal for my first time on track. Would be even better if I could get someone to give me a few tips on track.

I am sure that OPL's aren't reccomended if you're a complete novice? I guess it depends which company you book through though.

Some cracking pics!
