Read the back of your license :)

A2 license automatically becomes an A license entitling you to ride any bike when you've had it for 2 years.

Actually every day goes by and i'm beginning to think it isn't as silly as it sounds. It's just a starting measuring to something more staged that should be in place (i.e 33bhp for a year then 75bhp for a year then 100 bhp for 2 years)

But yes before your 21 you can de-restrict providing you've done 2 years of restriction.

I don't actually mind the restriction!

You get used to it!

A stepped restriction would be better, the 33bhp for two years in stupid IMO you can pass your test then not ride for 2 years and then your restriction free and whats to make a 21 year old any better of a rider? The 33 bhp was fine for a little bit but then you get used to it and it seems like there's absolutely no power

Government or council run is useless. You know someone is on the take always. Council tax is always high for a reason and i can give you some good examples of that.

IMO 33bhp is at the "It ain't broke, don't fix it" stage similar to 17 year olds being able to drive an M5 on company insurance.

To me it is broke. I hate the law with a passion if it was stepped or mileage based then I wouldn't be to bothered but I personally don't see why some one should get a free er experience because there 21. In my opinion its the car drivers that need the restriction.

I really like the idea of a restriction, but it hardly effects the bike unless you're breaking the speed limit, sadly.

Car drivers don't need restricting, how many of them cause crashes by using too many BHPs?

Anyone here been knocked off by a ferrari driven by a new driver?

Insurance premiums see to that for new drivers.

If bikes didn't have restrictions, I expect people like me wouldn't be paying £400 for fully comp the day after we got our license.

I now have a car license too, which I got in November (bike license since September, and I'm still looking at the best part of £2000 to be insured on a 1987 1-litre Peugeot 205 Junior

My daughter the day she passed her test as a 17 year old was out in my Mondao ST200 courtesy of the companies any driver insurance. I double checked first if there were age/experience limits.

So in a way the 33bhp is a mockery and it should be open to all to do the test on a full power bike and then the skys your limit.

haha, agreed!

And Jacksuzuki...... please remember we have a u rating and a swear filter in place for a reason, bypassing the swear filter too often will see you get a slap on the wrist, consider this a friendly warning tho ;)

And when fast bikes lunatics tested them the ZX12R was faster. This is very important for pub bragging rights.
