So, what with the nice weather and all, who is up for a bit of shire horse action (and no, I ain't talking bestiality)???
Any taker?
Yeah ok......
Oh sorry, you "weren't" talking beastiallity ??
I suppose I could always attend anyway though.
Ohhh yes. Means I won't have to cook.
We could always meet at Sophies new gaff and she could rustle up some Shire style grub........

Fair enough mate. You live bloomin miles away - I'd not bother driving that far just for a beer and steak.

cool. Well, only 3 takers so far but I'll be there none the less.
I might pop over, but if I do it'll almost certainly be in the car.
Shame to waste having the flat to myself for an evening though.

What do you do in the flat on your own that you would not normally do?

The doris gets irritated when I play my guitars badly.
And I like to strum when she's not around.
These two facts may not be related.

Well that was a disappointment.

Tonite was going to be my first meet, and I was looking forward to the ride over. That was until I picked up a nail in my rear tyre on Sunday, and although the AA plugged the hole I'm limited to 40mph until it's replaced tomorrow. Until then I'm stuck in the GF's Faraday Cage, limited to Oxford traffic speeds.
Oh well, see you all on the 23rd!

Was this some five-minute-by-the-roadside-fix kinda plug?
I've done thousands of miles with a plugged tyre, from motorways to Alpine passes at all kinds of speeds.

You can always come along in the cage mate. Although we are a bikers meet, we won't take the pee (too much) if you turn up on 4 wheels. In fact over winter even I got a life with Andy in his Beemer a few times.

And to add. I plug my own punctures using sticky string. I have never once bothered to get the tyre repaired and never once ever had any issues afterwards. Plug it and forget it is what I do.
I had the AA once come out and plug a tyre for me. They used the plug type rather than the string and he cocked it up. I could hear and see the air still leaking out of the plug. I demanded to be recovered rather than ride because he had just made the bike unsafe. He refused and drove off. For that reason alone I will always make sure I have string ready to plug my own tyre.

Yeah it was one of those rubberband types. Problem was that although I called the AA around 4pm, the van did'nt arrive until 8:15pm (Good thing I was at home when I found the nail!), and he had to plug it 3 seperate times as it was just too cold for the cement to go off suitably. He left with the advice that I should get it checked out ASAP. I took it to my local'ish Suzuki dealer who have said that due to the location (Sort of right had shoulder, a good 2" from the centre line) they can't take it off and put a mushroom in, and as it's still loosing pressure (5lb ish overnight), I should replace it.
Luckily it's in for it's 4k service tomorrow, and thanks to a mutual friend I'm getting both the service and the tyre for mates rates, so It's not all that bad. Just annoying that I had a couple more months wear in it, and that I can't make tonight.
This episode has made me get a plugging kit to stash under the seat, as I can't be waiting around for the AA if this happens again!

You have'nt seen what I'm driving!
Me thinks I'll never be able to show my face again with you TV'ers if I rolled up in the wheels I'm using. All I can say is it's wrong and it's blue!

You haven't seen my dullville then. Think"egg shell" finish and rust.
The mode of transport is not the issue. Get your **** along, even the bike should be fine. Start making excuses now and it is the start of a slippery slope.....
Ask the stig.....

You didn't buy my old Cinquento did you? Nothing was as wrong as that was.

It's not egg shell it's 'black leather' look. It's the in thing.

It's the in thing.
A bit like when Harley introduced the matt black finish on the Street Bob. Knowing that it would be rubbish, pre-empting any complaints, it was proudly announced that the paint would wear for that personalised black denim look...cringeworthy PR genius
Do you have to use such swear words in the TVSF?
I can't believe nobody's mentioned Hammerite.
I can't believe it took you that long too.
Right, are people actually showing up tonight? If so, I'll head off in a minute.
This is the clip that I mentioned at the Shire....
