Hi Everyone

I just brought a US 20 to transport my laptop back and forth from work. The problem I have is that when I brake or hit a bump it moves forward and starts to work loose.

Can anyone help to stop this happening.

Thanks

Not sure which way you have it "facing" when fitted, but if you put the top of it (where you get stuff in and out) at the back of the bike, then put the middle strap that secures the bag through the pillion grab handle before clipping together it's got nowhere to slide forwards as the strap holds it at the back.

Hope this makes sense! Oh and this is assuming you have your grab handle still on the bike!

Good idea!!!

I need to put something on the grab handle to stop it wearing the paint I think.

Apparently according to Mr Pegasus milemuncher of the year....it has wonderweb built in underneath. You should have the top (the bit you get your stuff out of) facing yer butt. Get the straps, take pillion seat off first, place straps uinderneath, put pillion seat back on. Straps now hung loose either side of bike. Place US20 on pillion seat, strap it in place, pull to tighten.
Dead easy.

BTW tested at 160 odd miles per hour!

Yeah I did that, I have had a US10 for over a year with no issues. But the US20 works loose slowly, I had to stop twice on the way home to strap it up tight again.

That's exactly how I do mine but at 100mph I glance in my mirror to see my precious beer dangling by a strap.
No matter how secure it feels when I strap it down it always manages to work a bit loose (not always anywhere near the extent of the above example). I've compared it with other us-20 owners who haven't had an issue (IIRC one actually did mine up for me) and it still worked loose. I think it's either my bad luck or I somehow have a dodgy one.

Seriously, Peg rides around with it on there and it stays glued, you sure your straps aren't worn?. If so Kriega should replace them. Hes done 24000 miles since July on the zzr, and a fair few thousand before that with the Kriega and it don't budge. He says its the most sturdy tailpack hes ever had on a bike. He has it fully loaded.

And I wasn't kidding about 160 mph test either mate ;-)

Its under braking that mine moves forward.

I am going to try what Christopher suggested.

Sounds like willywaving by proxy there dizzy, wanna keep an eye on that :smt120

Yeah tried all sorts, straps don't seem worn I've tried tieing them together over the top of the pack so there's no slack for the the clips to loosen on but it still does it. What sort of weight of stuff is peg carrying? The problem seems to show it's head when carrying something heavy.

Yeah I agree, I put a laptop in mine so its flat and I think that does not help it sliding around.

I think securing it via the grab handle should help. Is that going to cause any issues?

Nah not at all, purely for illustration :-), doesn't matter if its braking or high speed the damn thing doesn't shift.
Perhaps what your problem is, is that you are strapping a square object onto a unidentified shape ie your seat. He tours with the thing, so heaviness is as much as he can get in it without breaking the seams! If you are strapping things like that on, the straps the Kriega comes with can dig into whatever you are carrying.
A box of beer gives no place for the straps to dig into, and therefore allows things to slip about....makes sense to me.

Yeah makes sense, tbh I suspected the shape & weight combo of beer bottles to be the problem on the gm but had the issue since with less awkward objects - although thinking about it not to the same extent.

s.o.b : you could try putting a jumper or something soft like foam in there to see if the straps take a better hold.

tbh its probably the weight. Your accelerating and decelerating so much on a bike if you have something like a lappy or beer in there its just going to pull through the straps i would have thourght?
