Thanks guys, I've updated the main thread with a debrief. Think it was a close call, and don't think the magistrate actually wanted to clear me, he said in his summary he thought I was probably slightly over 30 mph, but there was just too many holes in the case for him to conclude that my driving fell below standard.

I'm not driving from this point onwards unless I have to mate!
I'll be doing more pleasure miles on the bike than essential miles in the car for me from now on if I have the opportunity. If I can get to a customer using train and taxi, that's what I'll be doing, I'm not paying for it!
When you do 35k miles a year, there's twice as much chance of things going wrong, and when they do go wrong nowadays you get the book thrown at you. Gasto's flash when in the good old days a copper would have taken traffic and conditions into account and given you a warning. It's all to easy to land in the **** when actually, you've doing very little, or indeed nothing wrong.
I have no interest at all in cars or in driving anymore, only in bikes and in riding :riding:. I've given my car to the wife and I'm now the proud owner of her 1.2 Ibiza, and I'm dead happy I don't have DWDC on my license so my bike insurance isn't going up!

Groan....
Hang on a minute, I got found not guilty :p
You know what, Sunday night I slept sound when I expected a bad night, last night I finally went to sleep at 4am and more than 1/2 bottle of whisky, having got up and had another drink twice 'cos there was no point at all lying in bed.
Bought a tail tidy for the SV and a bash plate for the XT on ebay though.
I just couldn't get my head to settle down, lying in bed with every word said in court replaying over and over, whilst saying to myself, "you got found not guilty, forget it and go to sleep!".
Good job I don't need to drive anywhere today!
