Hi guys, should be an easy question to answer, but basically im not sure if i have a sv650s K3 or K4. Its an 2004 plate, but i thought this was just the year it was registered and the paper work seems to suggest it is a 2003 model.
I recently ordered a rear hugger, it had 2 fitting holes on the RHS. Whereas my bike only had one fitting for the brakeline braket on the swing arm.
I have since re-modeled this side and fits perfectly.
So in short which model has just the one screw hole in the RHS swing arm for the brakeline, K3 or K4?
Many thanks in advance

Find the VIN plate on the side of the frame, RHS if I remember correctly??
The tenth digit of the frame number is the model year, 3 = 2003, 4 = 2004

Wow thx for your speedy responce.
Had a look at the VIN No. and the 10th digit is actually a 0. Does this mean its a 2000 model, with an 2004 plate? seems strange, but plausable i guess.
Thx again

Hmm, maybe not on the UK bikes then - definitely won't be a 2000 if it's a pointy model:confused:
edit: maybe try this:

Small differences between the K3 & K4. It the rear subframe straight, or does it kink a bit. Does the fuel light just go solid, or does it also flash?
This site (http://www.suzukicycles.org/SV-series/SV650-SV650S.shtml) says that the K3 has Suzuki wrote on the tank where as K4 will have a S

Orrr if you can compare your bike to one on the net, k3's have a higher back end, look at the diagonal bar on that the passenger footrests are located on, this bar is steeper and more exposed for the higher back end of the k3 (silver bike) but more horizontal for anything later (dark bike)

or that :p
Also the k3 has a U shape kicker on the sidestand, k4 onwards just has a spike stiking out. Picture posted is definitely a k3

Excellent stuff, thx for all your responces, so it def seems to be a K3. as far as i remember the rear sub frame is straight (just found pic). I was sent a hugger for K3 (thats what the paperwork said)but there was a mistake somewhere along the line. Anyway i fixed it now with some glass fibre and resin (see other pic).
Had my SV for about 8months, used for commuting all through winter so was in need of some serious TLC, mostly been working on cosmetics really, good clean, hugger, belly pan, Hel brake lines, plugs air filter etc. Just waiting to a good bit of weather to spray everything up.
and then get it back on the road!!! hopefully this week!
Currently looking at suspension options front and back.
You forums have proven an imense source of info, so thx very much!!!
