This is not an advertising post, I have no affiliation with this website whatsoever.

A friend of mine (also not affiliated) swears by this site...

www.chinavasion.com (http://www.chinavasion.com)

They have some really good things on there. The most interesting to me are the cheap cameras (even a cool camera watch thingy)

Just thought i'd put it on here incase anyone fancied any cheap things.

Not sure on the quality of the items, but I've been told they are all good.

Looks like you don't need leads or anything too. Just whack a memory card in and away you go!

But most gadgets you buy in England are made in China anyway?! I too am wary, but they are some damned low prices.

I bought one of these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180461825344) and the quality isn't bad for the price... video on YouTube of someone using one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMyy6nApM7Y) (not me).

Delivered in a little over a week, battery lasts about an hour (an hours video fills a 4GB card).

1hr = 4gb, either that is massive high quality or its eating memory.
My dog cam 2 takes around 1gb per hour of recording at 30FPS.

Says on the link 1GB = 40mins.

Yeah it's pretty rubbish at compressing the video (sacrifice for the cheap price) and what it says on the advert doesn't match what comes out of it. The only video I have locally is 20 minutes long and is 1.3GB in size.

Saying that mate, sd and micro sd cards are that cheap now it dont really matter that much, just keep 2 or 3 of them handy.

Problem is the battery life, only lasts a touch over an hour and then takes 2-3 hours to charge via USB. I'm happy with it for the price though.

http://www.chucklohr.com/808/ - has loads of info on them. The one on that link at the start of the thread is very expensive at £30+ and one of the rubbish ones (any of these with built in memory aren't worth buying).

Anyway slight derail over ;)

Yeah most cheap crappy gadgets. Not digital cameras and cell phones and the like.

I have a strong dislike for chinese made things, sometimes it is unavoidable but I try as much as possible to avoid buying chinese.
One of the reasons our economy slumped and manufacturing in the UK is pretty much non existent.

This is very true, not just the Chinese either.
But the west's hunger for cheap electronics has snowballed this, if there was no demand, there wouldnt be a market.
For that reason, im not buying off that site ;)

The iphone is made in china if I'm not mistaken..

I've not purchased anything off there as of yet, but a couple of people I know swear by the quality for the price of the items. Obviously, if you want the best, pay for the best, but for us cheapskates, it seems good value (perhaps) for the money.

I was wondering the same thing, but there's so many people doing it that profit margins are razor thin.
