View Full Version : Recommend me - performance car insurance
Just had the renewal through for the car (03 Impreza wrx) and couldn't quite understand why it has gone from £350 to £570 to insure it, with no change in circumstances, and then with my three points declared over the phone for speeding in january, + another £100. The policy excess has also jumped up too, £600 from £400.
Apparently, according to the guy at Adrian Flux (who quoted £800+) it is down to the growing amount of chavs that seem to be driving their treved up Imprezas into trees at an alarming rate, leaving us old, sensible drivers of unmolested examples of Imprezas left paying the premium. He said Impreza drivers are costing the company 20million in insurance payouts.
So, is there anyone on the forum that can recommend an insurance company for this type of vehicle.
Well not sure if it's performance enough but sureterm
are properly cheap for my performance mini

Don't think they'll do it, just looked at their site, don't think they'll class the car as classic, 4x4 or motorhome. Cheers though.
Sky insurance is worth a try!
Performance direct claim to be good
Just tried Subaru's own online service, and this seems to be the best so far so will probably go with them. After being with my current insurer for about 8 years and see the premium go up that much they can screw their customer loyalty, even if they end up matching Subarus quote, which I imagine they will try and do when I tell them.
As an aside, I found it quite bizarre, that one of the occupations that I was told earlier will push up your insurance premium is if you happen to be an artist (not my job discription BTW), "because somebody may find the picture offensive, and take it out on the artists car", along with a hairdressers and tattoo artists, for obvious reasons.

Im with sky insurance, and they cover your mods like for like.
Flux are notoriously expensive.
Is it standard?
Just insure it with anyone if it is.

They were one of the cheapest when declaring mods for me but this was nearly 10 years ago.
I can only comment on my experience with them.

If you say artist to an insurer it normally seems to mean you get grouped under performing artists, i.e. rock n' roll baby, etc etc and are more likely to throw TVs out of hotel windows and crash cars! As my sister found out since she is an actress (er not a famous one lol, just doing tours of schools and things doing plays etc).

Yep, as said in my first post I tried Flux and they were a good few hundred more than the renewal.
Tried Chris Knotts earlier, they won't insure because I'm a courier  Yeah, because I'm going to be using an Impreza for courier work .
Tried a lot of companies now, and a lot of them just won't insure Imprezas any more. I've looked on subaru owners club sites and I don't think I'll get it any cheaper tbh, looks like we are all hit with the same problem of chavs and young'uns constantly crashing them hiking everyone else's premiums. I mean ffs there are 21 year olds driving around in them paying £3500 a year insurance.
