Inspired by a thread on another forum, how many of our members have spent time at Her Majesty's pleasure?
Poll is anonymous, no need to post if you don't want to
ETA: This is a poll to ask if you've served time in prison, visiting doesn't count...;)

Does working in RAF count as time in prison, kinda felt like I was at times...

Only visited.
I went to strangeways wearing a suit as skiving out of work. Offered a private interview room as the screws assumed I was a solicitor.

Nope not me.
However, my parents once took me to Fareham police station when a friend I was with took a pack of hulahoops for a Circle K (Southern chain of supermarkets years ago)... that the closest I have ever become.

I dated a guy who was in Prison for Fraud. He was called Nick and seemed really lovely. Mind you he was a day release prisoner and would call me during the day when he was out doing community work, it took him about three weeks before he told me why I could not see him in the evening. Even then, I kept at it and it was only when he was moved to a more secure unit for fighting that I thought maybe I should think about it a bit more! He was a lovely guy though and I do wonder how he got on when he was released a little while ago.
On a sadder note, one of my old friends took her own life in Bristol ladies prison a while back. She was suffering with depression and addiction problems and got into trouble. They put her away for two years and she never made past six months. No one told me that she was gone and I found out via the local paper a couple of weeks later. I was so sad to find out that way.

Where's the "no - skin of your teeth" option
Many moons ago as a Juvenile, so not prison in them days they were detention centers. Not been in trouble since i was 19 and then was for fighting.
Did it rehabilitate me, No, i just grew up and stopped being a pain in the ass to everyone.

does one day count?
It was in a spanish cell in a police station but i did have the joy of having a loaded gun pressed against my head too and i bet no matter how long a stretch you get over here you dont get that on day one

D'oh!
it was when i lived in the Canaries. I was me, the islands are owned by the Spanish and the cell, well it was more like a changing room and there was a locker where they kept all their handguns and ammo and it was left unlocked the whole time i was incarcerated there.
Where the cell itself was actually from i didnt have time to ask tbh. Having a gun pressed to your head kinda takes the power of reasonable thought away quite quickly.
Although on assessing that statement for a mo, asking a cell where its from is not exactly reasonable thinking in the first place but then again i'm not often accused of being reasonable. Or thinking.

What did you get nicked for?
Basically being me. And they suspected me of being an illegal immigrant on top of it all. Best advice from the solicitor tho. "look you and i both know your right, yeh? But we both also know on the islands anything can happen and the police run things. Do you wanna stay and fight the long fight or just get on a plane to another island where its all behind you?
You can guess i got on a plane right. I'm never going back to Gran Canaria tho, juts in case Maspalomas Jail House has a room with my name on it still waiting for me.

I'm a little surprised to see that I have my own option, I assume it's kinda like pleading the Eleventh Commandment.
Guess I'd better tick that box,
Keith.
been nicked in this country and done an overnight spell a few years back. dont htink that counts.
lot of people i used to be friends with have done time, think the worst was a few years. Most also said prison was a waste of time as it usually makes people worse.
Nope not me.

Back in the days when villages had thier own coppers, I got caught scrumping apples, being 10 years old and clever:rolleyes: I legged it home laiden with apples only to find the local bobby in the kitchen drinking tea with my dad and waiting for my returd. It taught me valuable life lesson.....Don't get caught:D

What'd he do?
When my brother first got back we were all sat round having a big family dinner, all a bit awkward and quiet so I obviously broke the silence with "....... ....So....did you get bummed?"
Most also said prison was a waste of time...
Is that not half the point?

Haha - nothing like an awkward family moment!
Erm, he drunk drove, crashed into a petrol station and two of his passengers died. Still inside now.

Apart from the post directly before your own?;)
I wouldn't judge someone just because they'd spent time inside, as far as I'm concerned they've served their sentence and the slate is clean, unless they want to discuss it it's really none of my business - just curious more than anything:cool:
Ah , ****. Perhaps not as much of a lighthearted subject.
Yeah - I wasn't being light hearted about his thing - just the way you described your joke sounded funny!
3 months in Colchester Glasshouse in 1982 for being AWOL for 9 months (it's a long story but I was only actually AWOL for 1 day, the rest of the time I was in civvie hospital).
If I'd been sentenced to any more than 3 months I'd have been transfered to a civvie nick.

No, thanks to liberalism existing in this country. Maybe I should have, but it would have done me no good. I have learnt to behave on my own.

No not personally....
Even though I come from a family of once notorious outlaws.
A few were imprisioned.
Ok and maybe 2 were executed by the state.
Something about that courthouse massacre...
But other than that we're just friendly folk. ;)
