View Full Version : Google Maps UPDATE

Pretty much everywhere in the uk including the vast majority of minor roads is now on google maps STREET VIEW.

Looks fantastic too, cant even begin to imagine how many miles it took to do EVERY single road including tiny little minor one in scotland etc.

Its a good way to waste a few hours.

As much as people complain about it I've found it AWSOME, not only for fun but mapping a route it's so nice to be able to do a "Virtual drive" for the bits you need so you recognise landmarks and road layouts when you see them and don't have to worry about decyphering exactly where an instruction means you to go.

Guess they couldn't do private roads, as I can see the view from the top of my road but not walk down it. Bummer

It was the B4364 and could not see any bikes on Streetview :(

It is very dependant on the way the car was travelling, they seem to only be storing front facing shots. So travel the road the same way the car was traveling and you might find yourself.

I haven't owned the car on my drive for almost 2 years I think.

They've blanked out the street name outside my house, but left the one on the other side of the road clear

edit: I'm rubbish, it's nearly one year since I sold that car.

Mine was definitely last summer cos the hanging basket is out and definitely on a Thursday cos the bin is out.

Mine was done last autumn, probably late September from the trees and fields.

So travel the road the same way the car was traveling and you might find yourself.A lot of us overtook the car, so would show up both directions? I was chasing the pack after marking the junction and so might have got an 'action shot' :(

That's me and my brother breakfasting outside in the glorious sunshine on 1 April 2009 at about 10.30.

I know the date for certain because I recall thinking, "What a horrid invasion of our privacy!" and taking a revenge photo:

Maybe I am just a security freak but I would never post an exact link to where my house is... everyone knows where a nice shiny triumph is kept now.

To be fair most people on here are great, but you never know what shady character lurk around in the backgrounds of forums with 1 or 2 posts to their name.

P.s I can see why your neighbour may have been a bit ****ed at 20+ bikers turning up ;)
