View Full Version : I broke the bike AGAIN!
I'm gonna go cry in the corner, I seriously am nearly moved to tears.
Just cleaned the bike and bang, over she went. Am so gutted. Broke the gear lever AGAIN, and where the crash bung is off the bracket its split the fairing so at some point its new lower fairing.
.... Chris lifted it and has fixed what can be fixed. Put the Pazzo on that he had so I can ride it to Crescents and get another lever in the morning. I couldn't move as I was physically shaking.

When i dropped mine (at 0mph!!) i just sat and cried, not cos i was hurt, but because i'd scratched the bike. I know how youre feeling, org hug :grouphug:
I have grown to laugh at myself now to be honest. Dropped it twice now whilst not moving, once incredibly stupidly in glossop in a que of traffic with a mass or orgers all around me.

You aint had the best of luck lately...front coil, now this...rabbits foot for luck & a paddock stand might help when cleaning;)

Ah man, what a bummer :(
I am really paranoid about mine on the stand, hence the reason for a paddock stand, so much safer.
Least you had no tarmac tattoos to go with it ;)
Dont beat yourself up about it, its easily done.
Did it once with my SV when the stand pinged up as i hadn't kicked it down fully. Miraculously managed to throw myself under the bike and catch it about 2 inches off the floor. Never moved so fast in my life!

Been there, done that, so mucho sympathy. :-({|=
I managed to gouge a big spot out of the paint on the fairing the other day which I'd had resprayed last year. Now having to have that sprayed again. :smt092
Plus I'd marked the paint on my freshly painted mudguard. :smt092
Cheaper to get thr fairing repaired & sprayed. SvRory knows how
only dropped a bike once and that was my dad's 250 dt scrambler when i was about 15 i got such a shouting at i've never dared dropping a bike again lol i know the feeling though gut wrenching.

(p.s don't forget the time at that dam )
i feel your pain.
i did it on my drive once, bike was facing the wrong way on a slope for the side stand and bang, i was angry so i heaved it bk up and then checked to see if anyone seen.
it wasnt good as i did my bk in tryign to stop it and couldnt walk right for a couple of weeks.
few scratches on the fairing, but r and g took the brunt of it.
i think it is just one of them things. i will cry if i drop my 750 though!!!

Nope its the lever and the lower fairings. Chris managed to bend the gear lever back but not ridden it yet to make sure its OK. Will tell tomorrow.

So how come your crash bung didn't save it?
They should be bolted through the fairing onto the engine mounts so shouldn't catch the fairing.

Only plastic though, and as speedplay says sounds like the bungs didn't do their job
I did that when I had my Aprilia. Washed, polished, bang....over it went.
Chin up chick.

Ah well!! because of the coil problem Chris was trying to get the lower fairing off and the bracket holding the bung was split and had rusted through. It snapped when he tried to undo it and needs replacing.
See WANTED thread for new bracket!!!!

At least its a nice clean shiny broken bike

After the first handful of slow speed tips I've stopped caring...*
*I should add that all but two were off road, and I've yet to push it over while cleaning it:D**
**Most likely because I never clean it...
;)
yup, definitely something that will happen. my DAS instructor said as much and most likely in front of bikers mates for maximum embarassment.
when i did a 0 mph drop it was in torrential rain, i had pulled over as it felt unsafe riding, came to a halt in a side street put the left foot down but into a huge puddle....muddy bottom so my foot slipped and down i went. ended up lying on my back on the pavement in another huge puddle with my left leg trapped by the bike on the kerb. struggled for ages until i got out while smokers outside the nearby pubs just looked, pointed and laughed at the numpty biker:laughat:

When I had the bandit, I first dropped it coming down a gravel hill, a 90 degree turn on gravel but I freaked and slowed down far too much, if I hadn't I would have managed the turn. Due to the bandit being too tall, it went over to the right and I couldn't get my foot down quick enough BANG! Bike on top of me.
The second time I dropped it I was sitting at my junction waiting to turn right. My junction is a steep hill. I stalled the bike, started it again, panicked a lil and then dropped it. Again, I have done similar in SV but on the SV I have time to get my foot down, on the bandit, I didn't.
Amanda, don't beat yourself up. We all do it from time to time. x
