I have finally made my mind up that I am definitely selling the bike.
As you will all probably know already I've put a lot of time and patience into this bike and we were all impressed at the end result.
It is a 2001 sv650 which I have put the s fairings on myself, it has done 17000 miles but the clocks are reading 14000 due to the front end being changed for the fairings.
It's had recent new tyres as these were changed not long before I took it off the road to strip and clean and polish it. It's also had new chain and sprockets which haven't even been used apart from up and down our drive, nearly new brake pads, custom made bar ends and paddock stand bobbins from davie sv.
It has a delkavic exhaust with removable baffles which is road legal, custom paint job professionally sprayed, all the frame, swingarm etc. is all highly polished and everything is immaculate!
This bike hasn't been rode since all the work was done!!
It has no mot on it but I will put 12 months on for the asking price and it is currently sorn so will need road tax.
It has a cyclone alarm on it which does the job as it never really worried me as it's parked in our conservatory.
Currently the mirrors are not finished as it was the last thing on my list but with the new baby and everything else I just haven't had the time but all I need to do with these is sand them back and give them a nice new coat of paint so I will try my best to do them this weekend ready for anyone who wants to view it.
Literally all you'd need to do is tax it and insure it and you'd be ready to ride it away!
Also included in the sale will be the front and rear paddock stands.
I will have some bike kit aswell from me and my wife so feel free to enquire.
I'm asking £1700 for it as it is not your everyday sv for sale which if you read my thread from before you'll realise I'm not wrong!
Feel free to ask any questions and the bike is located in chesterfield, derbyshire!

Good luck anyway liam

Do you accept PayPal??:) (joke).

Mate, you must have thought really long and hard about this, to come to this conclusion must have been difficult.

If I had £1700 laying about, I'd buy it in a shot....but sadly I haven't.

Good luck with the sale Liam!!

Good luck.

yeah thanks all it was a hard decision to make but i had a go on a friends blackbird for a few days and my knee just wouldn't take it i have tried supports but no joy. I want the bike to be enjoyed by someone who will use it rather than me looking at it wishing i could ride it.

I will take offers aswell if anyone wants to throw sensible ones into the mix!!

Does that mean you couldn't ride the Blackbird either? Good luck, brilliant bike for some lucky person.

I followed that entire thread and tbh the amount of love and work that went into this bike is unbelievable.. way undervalued at £1700 I think. Very much a bargain bike for whoever gets it.

Hope you get back up on a bike at some stage, there's a lad down the road who lost a leg in an accident but he modified the bike & was back riding in a year!

GLWS :)

No struggled with the blackbird aswell. I will get back into biking again when i am older and the kids are grown up, providing my knee doesn't get any worse. The blackbird was more comfortable but would like to risk it at this stage.

Shame but someone will get a nice SV! I know how you feel. i love mY SV but SVs dont agree with me. The S plays my wrists up and the naked does my knees and back. I'll be selling mine soon too.. Anyway, free bump to the top.:)

ok just to add been to 2 dealers today and they think i am asking too much for it! I am not gready and don't want to rip anyone off so i am dropping the price to £1500 this will include a halford smart charger front and rear paddock stands, original screen and anything else that belongs to it.

I think i could get more but i want one of you guys to enjoy it rather than people of evilgay or bike trader.

PM me for more details, I have dropped the price because i want to be fair not because there is something wrong.

Cheers

Liam

Funny that...

Unless you're looking to sell it quick I'd leave it at £1700 for a bit I reckon it'd sell. Have a look through our for sale section I've seen atleast two curvy S's above £1500 recently and they're just bog standard (whether or not they'll sell is another matter).

thanks mate i have seen some on here for that but i have to remember that it isn't standard which may not be to everybodys taste which does sometimes effect the prices. i just want to be fair.

rowdy
20-03-10, 09:04 AM
Are you stark raving mad man! I'd rather leave it in the conservatory and look at it than let it go for that.

I wouldn't say it was over modded, just polished and painted a different colour so shouldn't affect the value that much surely?.
I would consider taking it to a bike meet on a sunny day and seek interest as the pictures don't really do the paint colour justice. It's got to be worth more than £1500 it looks fresh out the box.

dizzyblonde
20-03-10, 10:33 AM
got to be worth 1500. Funnily enough was looking through 'what bike' mag yesterday and a 00 reg curvy in perfect state would set you £1450 (privately) according to them, now I'd ask that for the one I have, but yours is in far better condition after all its had done.
Its a funny old game selling bikes, like Rowdy, I've seen worse states than my polished blingmobile on here lately with an asking price thats not befitting them.

jetfish
20-03-10, 10:37 AM
Stunning bike and well worth £1500, like some others have said if your not desperate for the cash hold out and it will sell. Its got to, if it was bog standard and a bit tatty you could understand it not shifting but in that nick its a good asking price. If i was flush i would probably have it myself.

By the way im still in the market for a cheap runabout for the summer guys, pref an sv but open to what youve got.

barwel1992
20-03-10, 10:37 AM
ok im going to ask my mum if she wants another sv (she will ride it once a year LOL so should be kept pristine)

i will get back to you after i have askend her

boot
21-03-10, 04:04 PM
Worthy every penny of the original asking price. Not only does it look the mutts nutts in the photos here, but you would really have to go see it to fully appreciate the quality of workmanship and finish - it's amazing. Mechanically it's spot on too, and having new chain, sprockets and tyres, it's doubtful it's going to be costing the new owner anything for a good while.

The pictures really don't do it justice.

Huwbee
22-03-10, 06:12 PM
I am stunned that this has not been snapped up.:o

I must say it looks fantastic. Surely someone out there must want it.

Dave20046
22-03-10, 07:23 PM
If I had a curvy worth about £1200 that needed a chain and tyres say £200-£300s worth of kit it'd be a no brainer to sell my bike and just buy this one.

I think peoples on here are stoopid

mikelcfc
22-03-10, 07:27 PM
sounds like youve been listening to to many dealers... i agree with the bike meet thing put it up at around 2k and see what interest it gets,, its not standard, however its had a really proffesional job and is very unique.

only reason i dont buy it is i have bikes to ride, and i would never dare take it out and its a very expensive ornament

22-03-10, 10:16 PM
I have pre-front-end swap polished bits on my bike and have ridden throughout the worst of the weather this winter. The polished bits are just as good as the day we swapped them - and they've only been cleaned thrice.

Looks a billy bargain at £1500, was a bargain at £1700 anyway.

I paid £1700 for a good condition/low mileage (5.8k) '99 naked Sv last year. That was buying from ebay and there was a fair bit of competition due the mileage/condition, so probably paid slightly over the odds but I wasn't bothered. It was nowhere near as shiny as yours and had scratched gauges where the guy had dropped it......it was lower miles though.

Good luck with the sale :).

liamsimpson
24-03-10, 06:15 PM
I am putting it on bike trader this weekend. If it doesn't sell on that i will have to put it on evilbay:(......

I have had 2 people xome and look at it 1 young lad just past his test that offered me £1000 who was swiftly told to leave and the other that came looked said he would pay the asking price and then never got back to me!! its so frustrating why are there so many idiots out there!!

Still got one lady interested but it still up for sale at mo.

Come on its a bargain!!!!

You've got a beautiful bike here for sale and if i hadn't already bought my sv I would have been on your doorstep tomorrow morning with the cash in my hands!! I paid around £1500 for mine and yours is in much better condition, you should be getting more than £1700 for it!! I'd say around £2k + a bit for those who are rich!!
:p
All the best

I must say I am more than tempted and considered sending you a PM a number of times but... I would feel really bad if I bought it of you at this bargain price and then had to flog it on autotrader a couple of months later as in reality I do need a bike more suited to touring.. Another thing is, after seeing how much work you have put in that bike I would kill myself if I let it rust with lack of cleaning and using it all weather conditions...

I dunno about any legal stuff to do with the raffle thing but if you SHOULD DEFO DO THAT!
I'd buy a few for that. I recon you'd hit the 150 marker no trouble!

An remember liam, your my hero, such a beautiful family and greenhouse/workshop. Who you planning on getting to do the draw? I could do with thier contact details to butter them up too. Hope you have a fantastic weekend you extreamly handsom fella you!

in 3 hours you've already sold tickets to 5 people, who I'd imagine will all take multiple tickets. and they're only the people who've been checkin in on here from time to time to see if someones been lucky enough to buy it yet.

liamsimpson
26-03-10, 06:39 PM
might put a thread on in ib then just to see who'd be interested and how many tickets I'd be able to sell as last thing I want is to commit to anything and then lose out on my asking price!

26-03-10, 06:45 PM
If you state that the bike will not be raffled off until the required number of tickets have been sold, then you guarentee your price.

I entered a similar raffle for a house and fishing lakes. Each ticket was £25 and there were a set number so the vendor got his asking price

Thats what gave me the idea, house in our village was raffled off only after he got the asking price or maybe more..but who cares the winning bidder now rents it out to polish immigrents.

A raffle seems like a good idea and I'm sure liamsimpson is an honest man of the utmost integrity. However being a slightly suspicious soul I'd be worried about someone going behind everyones back and offering £500 to MR Simpson, and then magically their ticket is the one picked :smt120.

Hi Liam,
I am new here (just looking for my first big bike) and I LOVE what you did to yours. Not entirely sure what the outcome with the ruffle will be but I am most certainly interested in buying it for cash. I have a couple of arrangements to do prior to actually buying it (you have guessed - loan). If you would be willing to wait for me for a week or two (max) until I weight my options - please respond on this thread and we can continue via PMs. Regards, Jack

Thanks Liam pleasure doing business. Can't believe after months of looking for a bike on the net, visiting garages, private sellers and checking this site I always assumed because this thread was 8 pages long the bike had been sold! I loved the bike and only checked the end of the thread to see what someone had done with the bike and was astonished to see it was still for sale.
I have a couple of young kids so my budget was tight I never thought in my wildest dreams I would be getting a bike like this. I have been going to look at bikes in order to strike a deal but some of the people are not willing to negotiate and the amount of times I have heard "you won't get a bike better than this for.£.£.£. so buy it now" is unreal, well they were all wrong. It just proves if you are patient and wait the right deal will come along and find you if you don't rush. I have been tempted so many times to pay that bit extra which I didn't really have.
Speaking with Liam inspired my confidence immediately he is a top bloke and when I spoke with him if anything he is a bit like me too honest, I have sold a few bikes but been told I am too honest when sealing a deal I think Liam is like this a salt of the earth type bloke a vast contrast to some of the nobs I have been trying to deal with.
Hopefully be posting a bit on here now.

Sad to hear it's actually gone. But pleased for the new owner.

Liam, I hope we'll still see you on here and I'll be sure to pop by soon. I'm going to have a crack at polishing (some of) mine, when the weather improves - probably not the frame and swing arm, most likely all or most other bits though.
