becks out of world cup gutted or not, i know i am , like normal this will be the first of many :smt088
Could not care less but then again not a footy fan :)
Great shame, such a talented player. He seems to have been in slow decline ever since he left Manchester, and this is surely the kiss of death to his brilliant career.

If ever there was a poll that truly required a "keithd" option it's this one...

David who??? :-)
Well, the way he was whipping in those crosses against Man U last week, I really thought he looked like he could take hold of that position for England...bit gutted, but not really as England never have a chance at the World Cup anyways!

He's right you know...
He may not currently be the best right sided player we've got but after seeing the recent Internationals I'd have had him at number 2.
Disappointed he will probably now miss it but it long live the king.
I'm really sorry for him.
Say what you like about the glitzy, glam lifestyle and trophy wife but I doubt that anyone could deny that he has been a fine servant for club(s) and country. Witness the fantastic ovation he got when he came on at OT last week.
He was a fine captain of England, leading by example and directing the team forward when others around him wanted to play sideways and backwards. Hell, he even got cheered by the kop at Anfield when England played there when Wembley was under construction.
Whether he was good enough to go was a matter of debate, but Mr Cappello doesn't have top make that decision now.
I think he should retire now.

He may not be the best right sided player, but he's the best crosser of a ball, end of.
I think he could still do a job, what he lacks in agility now makes up with his heart, nobody wants it more than him.
Im gutted for him.

Have to say, my opinion of Beckham has changed alot, I think he actually comes across as a decent bloke, family man etc with a real desire to play football at a high standard for as long as possible. Which given how much he is worth must take a lot of commitment. Tis a shame he is unlikely to get the chance to go to South Africa, but not a massive loss to England's no chance of winning it anyway.
