I had a nice conversation with a policeman last night. He gave me 3 nice shiney points in exchange for £60 :smt066

Bugger!

Any one from Tyne & Wear area, watch out around the Whitemare Pool roundabout :plod:

Karma...

I think Karma is bull****! I always try and do nice things for people, infact I often go out of my way to do favours for people.

Why is it that nothing nice ever happens to me.

Rant over :)

What dya do??

I got done for an average of 71.3mph

The road is a 70 with a temperary 50 due to road works. I had started to slow down to 50 though, just not quick enough.

What annoyed me is the fact I was overtaken by 2 other cars in the outside lane, but it was me that was pulled over.

My fault, just a bit bitter about it.

Ah tought beat. I know how you must feel. A lot of people never really stick to the temporary 50's in road work areas. Even worse when you get overtaken be people and you're the one who gets singled out. Just tough luck!

I'm on 3 points at the moment, and I think I got flashed by a camera the other day, so I'm waiting nervously. Not bout having 6 points, that's just 2 lifelines away. How many points you on now?

check to see if they have actually applied for an official temporary restriction, if no actual legal restriction is in place you may be off the hook.

Really??? Any idea how I would go around finding out?

Normally I would take it on the chin, I just feel a bit hard done by this time.

ooooh... no i can ask though may take a day or so, was chatting with my uncle who is a policeman and we discussed it, I imagine its with your local Highways authority within the council which you could probably request it under the FOIA.

Also check the signs. Make sure they are actual speed limit signs and not "recomended speed limits"
If all else fails I would also write a nice letter to the chief constable accepting that you were speeding and the associated points but ask the question why the two cars that passed you were not pulled as they were travelling faster than you.

The usual response is "the officer was dealing with you" it's not fair but you are the one they decided to pull.

Yes but the officer wan't dealing with him at that time, as the two other cars passed him before he was pulled over. Now I'm not a trained police pursuit driver but if you are following someone doing 70 in a 50 and someone passes doing 90 then surely they represent the greater risk / offence and are therefore more worthy of your attention.

I realsie the letter will do no good but it may make the guy question his procedures a little...

Pah, Im just gonna take it on the chin. It's my word against his, and who are the courts going to believe???

From the second he came to the car window he had every intention on giving me a ticket, nothing I would have said or done would have changed his mind. He started to write the ticket out as soon as I got in the back of his car. I'm just glad not every copper is like this.
