Would it be a stupid idea to enter this?
Anyone with me?
I'm not sure about the whole season, but it's £380 per race per team of up to 3 so that £127 each entry fees. I have a 1998 599cc bike, would need race fairing, tyres at £217 per set (only allowed one dry and/or one wet set per race)

17/4/10 at Lydden Hill 8-[

That's a shame, I'll be away that week otherwise I would seriously have taken you up on that. What about trying to do the Anglesea round on the 16th May? What bike have you got, how much work would it take to get it ready?

Where are you chaps finding these dates?

Sounds awesome, but I don't think I'd fancy sliding your zx6 down the track! :)

Haha - I wouldn't on purpose, just meant I wouldn't fancy racing your bike! ;)

Does seem financially doable though!

Expect to see a CBR600 racing in that series with a Lozzo on board in 2011

Try and get to the ones abroad, Nurburgring GP, Zolder, Dijon, its about the same prices but some of the circuits dont even compare - Lydden Hill? You dont need an international licence and the costs of the entries are about the same.
Planning to do a few next year

The people in the PB mag did a round of this on a ducrapi 600ss or something

I say do it

and if I can, I'll muscle in and help, even if its just to take photo's of things going wrong, then going right, then going wrong again, then everyone falling out, then making up, then being glad the whole thing is over and we can all go home

Reccon you'd want one mechanically competant person on your pit crew too - to spot what's worn or stretched... and a driver maybe. Got to be tireing slogging round a track for 8 (or whatever it is) hours - then again if there are three of you...scratch the driver.

Dooooo it.....

Liking the abroad idea too.

What we need is a very nice girl/s to promote the team at the circuits and hold the brolly etc.

Have to concentrate on the minitwins this year though

My two younger daughters, aged 18 and 20, have asked to be my brolly dollies.

But still only 1990-2000 bikes allowed so none of the super new stuff.

Personally I think a well tricked up SV would be great in the 600 class... or maybe a tricked up 750 SRAD in the 600+ class.

A tricked up SRAD would be no match for a tricked R7 or a ZX7R come to think of it. An SV would be up against stuff like early R6s, CBRs, SRAD 600s etc - there's no match, believe me.

They only made 500 R7s didn't they? Hardly budget!

Stu

What's an R7.
To save me looking in the rules is an SV650 allowed in the 600? (since it only has V2)
Why would a ZX7R trounce an SRAD 750? (although I'm glad to hear it would)

Yam YZF R7 homologation thing.

Why you think the 7R is better bike for track than SRAD? (though SRAD is miles better on the road)

ZXR I rode had rear suspension that felt like a h*rl*y. You felt every ripple... nice bike but I couldn't have one.

You didn't ride it on track then, did you? In this context we are talking about what I think makes a better race bike. While the ZX7R may have felt harsh for the road, they work very well on the smoother tarmac of racetracks, in fact I spannered for an Endurance team for three seasons and was amazed at how an age old design like that could be so competetive. I have ridden 750 SRADs on road and track, and done the same with ZX7Rs - I'd pick the SRAD for road every day, but if I was racing the ZX7R would be my choice; they just seem much better suited to track than road, whereas the SRAD makes a brilliant road bike and a passable trackbike.

Btw, every Harley I've ridden has felt as soft as blancmange when ridden with any enthusiasm

Nope, tried going a bit on one over settle > ribblehead road and decided it was a bad idea after I hit first little ripple and it felt like I'd been kicked up the rse.

If that actually works well on track then fair enough, but it was far from confidence inspiring for me.

Which endurance team?

but a ZX7R weighs much more than a 750 SRAD, I know I have loaded both into a van Im sure the 7R frame is made from a lead composite......

Put some decent suspension on an SRAD and it will be a better bike for the track

Team UKRM - competed in the KRC Endurance Championship for four years with a ZXR750L for the first year then a very abused and hard done to ZX7RR. We were ok and consistent, never won anything but we always did our very best to at least finish. I think we only ever left one meeting without completing the full 6 or 8 hours.

ZX7s are too harsh for the road, but smoother tracks suit them very well. Like I said, the SRADS all felt quite wallowy on track, where the ZX7s are extremely stable. On the road it's the opposite feeling, the SRAD is by far the better road bike.
