i have decided on an arai chaser now, as it seems to fit me the best out of the lids i have tried.
Cant decide though on graphics, i like the dean thomas rep

or the haga rep

I went to HG and they didnt have it in, i went to bikers world by me , they didnt have it either, cos they get from same stock holders they both are quoting mid April for delivery.
I have decided on the dean thomas rep now and have ordered it from sportsbikeshop.com.
I was told today by both dealers that arai have issued warnings that they are not allowed to sell their helmets cheaper otherwise they will be banned from selling their brand.
Good ol' price fixing eh ;)

Bit late now G, ordered it ;)
I actually didnt like the haga as much in the flesh and i wanted a brighter lid.
I did try on the shoei xr1100 but didnt feel as comfortable on as the arai, obviously not sure what they are like to live with on the road, but i can only go on fitment in the shop.

Arai make some great helmet, I think my Chaser is great, unbelievably comfortable. Mine is the Phil Read replica.

it's quite true though, there are certain companies that we can't discount by more than about 10 or 15% otherwise they get shirty with us. i work in a small sports shop that sells proper sports stuff and i have people in all the time saying things are cheaper online, in sport direct or whatever. but you won't get the service and advice there. plus if that's what the item is worth that's what it should sell for. it costs the retailer x amount to get it they've got to sell it and make enough money to keep the business going. which often can't be done when always giving discounts, margins are bloomin' tight already.

however i have a chaser already and am really quite happy with it. really comfortable and feels light to me. only thing i'm not so happy with is that it's a little drafty at times.

I agree, i would much rather buy from a local shop than an internet company, if there was only a small difference in price i would choose the shop every time, If it was a lot of difference, then i would buy online.
Whats pi55ed me off now is the shop where i ordered it from now are saying it could be 30 days, even though they said they had stock.
I might cancel it and try a find a shop thats got it.

Well, had my first proper test today of the new lid, its a massive improvement on my old lid.
At speed its a lot quieter, more comfortable to wear also, only gripe being the double d ring fastening, my old lid was a click in buckle thingy, so very quick to put on / remove but this is more fiddly.
So, on the whole, very pleased with the investment.

I confuse myself!!

I remembered the black and white check across the bottom and thought that was the one you were looking for, but realised after I posted that that was RavingDavis's pic. The Phil Read is readily available off the shelf, and the staff seemed to give me the impressive that it wasn't "off the moment" like the Haga one. I didn't mention the Dean Thomas as I couldn't remember the name of it. Obviously when I was talking about it I was saying that you had difficulty finding it, hence they thought it odd that it was "on the shelf". DOH!!
