View Full Version : What's the point??

Seriously. What is the actual point in anything?
What a pants day I have had. Awake all night with nosebleeds, then found out a family friend had died, another friend taken into hospital, sitting wondering what my blood test results will be, all the while being told how useless I am.
It's the same old thing, day in day out. So seriously. What is the point?
I am now going to the fridge for beer...infact, I might hit the vodka.:shaking::smt013

There is no point, you have to keep yourself occupied so you dont keep thinking 'what is the point.' Otherwise you will become depressed because of the realisation that there is no point.
A beer is a good start lol.
Bit long but bare with me ......
On the first day God created the dog. God said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's too long to be barking. Give me ten years and I'll give you back the other ten." So God agreed.
On the second day God created the monkey. God said, "Entertain people, do monkey tricks and make them laugh. I'll give you a twenty-year life span." The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? I don't think so. Dog gave you back ten, so that's what I'll do too, okay?" And God agreed.
On the third day God created the cow. "You must go to the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves, and give milk to support the farmer. I will give you a life span of sixty years."
The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty and I'll give back the other forty." And God agreed again.
On the fourth day God created man. God said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. I'll give you twenty years."
Man said, "What? Only twenty years? Tell you what, I'll take my twenty, and the forty the cow gave back, and the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back, that makes eighty, okay?"
Okay," said God, "You've got a deal."
So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves; the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family; the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren; and the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.
Life has now been explained to you.

Stick in there MBK!
Your unfortunate that with your job you get very little reward, it must make your home life that little bit harder. All the otehr stuff you've got going on is going to hit you a little bit harder if your heads down.
Chin up and keep swinging, the world wont back away until you tell it to.
I'm not really over 70, i just look as if i am....all that stress and things.
Seriously. all the while being told how useless I am.
mbk NO one can say that to you....unless they are small minded and stupid...

Know how you feel MBK- I've been on a downer for the last month or so- various reasons plus end of season SAD.
Got myself out of it last week. 5HTP helped and having some bloody good friends helped more.
Very hard to see out when you're in the middle of it, but hey- things get better.
And the point?
Well- I reckon we all make our own points.
Sometimes I have a point. But I'm not showing anyone that! :D
So chin up girl. Sorry to hear your sad news and hope you feel better soon!

Fair enough if I was a lowlife, dole living scumbag, but I am not.

You get it from Holland and Barrett. It's one of the building blocks of serotonin. Helps me when I've not got the energy to rise above stuff, but takes a few days to make a difference.

After a year of not sleeping properly it's gonna take a lot to get me outta this hole I have got myself in. Just having a particularly bad day.

He's dead right. No-one has the right to call you that when you're doing your best to make a positive difference to society.
You've got one of the most thankless jobs in the world, yet you keep going out there every shift with a positive attitude and doing good things. Ignore the comments and comfort yourself in the knowledge that anyone who calls you useless is probably seriously lacking in the moral fibre it takes to do your job.
Errrr...isn't that a parent's job?
I certainly hope not. I would rather die than give my kids that impression.
We love you MBK :D
Lozzo pretty much nailed it.
Don't underestimate your own worth to all those around you, both professionally and personally. You have friends who enjoy your company, and on here look forward to your humour too.
If your Dad criticises you like that he needs to have a look in the mirror... I won't say anymore on that one for fear of overstepping the mark.
Summer's coming and soon we'll all be able to get out there and enjoy all the things that bring on a smile.
And the point... Does there need to be one? If you're not careful you'll suffer paralysis by analysis. Just go out and enjoy life for what it is.

Anyway, if you know inside yourself you are doing your absolute best and trying your hardest, then feel proud. Not everyone gives it their all (I don't think I always do) but you always know when you've done a good honest hard peice of work or whatever.
Everyone has bad patches, but remember there are nice things in life. It might be little things, like the daffodills coming out now its warmer (always makes me happy). Just hold your chin up, look around, and don't listen to those you say your stupid

Lol- not really. That's Redbull! :)
It's more that it helps your body make more happy hormones (it apparently helps relaxation and possibly sleep too- but as a sketchy sleeper myself, I've not noticed that so much!)- generally if you're firing a few more of these, it makes it a bit easier to deal with stuff (stopped me feeling like everything was 10xworse than it actually was).
