Not sure if this is the right place for a first post but here goes anyway.
My little gixer 400 has been awarded the status of "long term restoration project" and is now sitting on paddock stands in my garage awaiting attention. I need a bike again so after a good look around and a bit of a think I've just bought a fully faired SV650S 2000 model in pretty reasonable condition. It has the inevitable crack in the fairing where it's toppled over at some point and landed on the indicator but aside from that is looking pretty good with just 19000 on the clock.
It looks to be just what I need for a spot of European and GB touring, weekend rides and as a commuter for getting back and forth to uni when I start my IT degree later this year.
I'm off to collect it on Wednesday so I'll post some pics up when I get it. I shall undoubtedly have questions about it once I've got it back home so hopefully some of you good people on here will have some answers for me.
In the meantime I look forward to getting to know you all.
Gary.

Welcome to the Org. You'll like it here, the residents are strange but it's warm and dry. Looking forward to seeing the pics!

Thanks for the welcome people. A quick question - I'm trying to upload a profile pic 300x300 pixel jpeg but it won't have it. Do I have to wait till I have a certain number of posts or something?

Hi Gary, welcome to the site. You have bought a curvy, which was a wise move. =D> To impress us even further with your taste, you can inform us that it is the fastest colour too. Candy Grand Blue :smt045
You might want to check out your local group too.

This is CGB. If yours is a 2000 model then it almost certainly is.

Very wise Gary. Seriously, a lot of us take nothing seriously.
If you want butch instead of girlie, take a butchers at Luckypants curvy fitted with twin renegades. Sadly the bike is no more.

Crack on fairing eh new person. Don't harm at all, mines only been there two years. You are lucky theres more blue ones out there, black ones are rare for replacing with nice unmarked ones :-(
As for butch.....you need a nice yellow restored one, with a custom top yoke that belonged to PeteVtwins on it, hmmm I got one o those op;-)
Welcome BTW.

Very nice too but much as I like the end cans they'd be no good to me in that position as my soft luggage would be resting on them.

Great little bike. Mine is the 1986 GK71F. Have had to do a fair bit to it but over the last 5 years it's taken me all round France, the Massif Centrale and the Pyrenees twice and last year I did a monster 4500 mile trip in two weeks out through as far as Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia and lots of countries in between here and there. Did it without too much bother, sat on the Autoroutes when needed at around 90mph for hours on end and handled the twisty bits fully laden with me and luggage without complaint. Had some overheating problems which were rapidly cured on returning by replacing the knackered rad cap with a new one.

I'm a few miles west of Welshpool.

Hi Gary...welcome to the org. I have a 400 too....CBR400RR Gull Arm in the garage waiting for me to pass my modules 1 & 2 next week and I can't wait to get out on it.
Oh, I'm also very sorry, but as I have had a few beers and my brain is playing tricks on me; when I first saw the thread, I thought your username was gaynortheast. Now, I apologise profusely for this mistake and also for the fact that I will forever more think of you as gaynortheast. I best just call you Gary ;-)
Now, you live near Welshpool eh? Do you know the Westwood? Stretchie and I have have stayed there a couple of times and he's stayed there other bikers a few more times. Titch, the big dude that runs it and Diane (his Mrs) call his name when he walks through the door even if he hasn't been for a year. He can tell you a funny story about the downstairs toilet window and it being used to gain entry.....when the back was still open :-) :-) :-)

I do know the Westwood but I've never been in there. I shall be doing so in a couple of weeks though to meet up with the people from a local bike club who have just started meeting there.

The little gixer will look a lot better once it's been restored. It won't be exactly original but close with a few subtle changes to the paint scheme.
