View Full Version : Life's a bitch - my friend died yesterday

Life really is a goddamn bitch.

We had a fantastic ride to Abersoch today. I got back to hear that my friend Henry on the 675 forum was killed yesterday. I don't have the details and I'm not sure I want them. I met him at the fest (equivalent of AR) last year, and then on the factory tour. The site has a chat function, we used to chat quite a bit either on chat or in the mods room, and he only texted me yesterday. He loved bikes - always fiddling with his 675, he painted it blue and white cos that was a colour scheme he liked on an old Triumph Trident, and he so wanted it to be a modern Trident that he took all the Daytona markings off it. I used to take the **** that it was a shame it didn't have an oil leak, it would be a bit more realistic.

From County Donegal, and lately living in Lincoln, he was 45, his girlfriend is expecting their baby in June. He was so excited - the baby was their first child.

I feel utterly shocked.

Rest in peace, my friend.

Thank you for all your kind thoughts and warm words.

I don't know what happened but I didn't make clear in the orginal post that he was riding his Daytona at the time. I'm told that he was conscious when the ambulance arrived but died shortly later.

Another sad loss to the biking world, our thoughts will be with another family now and I hope that where ever your friend is, he can feel the warmth of concern and respect.

Take care out there folks, you take it easy too Ed, you are one of the worlds good guys and I am sure that your friendship was greatly valued.

Ed so sorry to hear this what awful news, even more heartbreaking with a new family on the way.

Small comfort he was doing what he loved doing, something I think we as bikers always seek to console ourselves with, due to the shared love of biking.

RIP thoughts are with his family.

Oh the org is a wonderful place and I am truly appreciative of all you lovely people.

The rawness has passed and I just find myself thinking about him. Mick couldn't bring himslelf to call Jo today, he'll call her tomorrow, and maybe I'll find out a bit more.

I have been re-reading the thread - and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Oh bugger. I just can't imagine what Henry's wife is feeling right now with a baby on the way.

She will always have a little living piece of him to love and treasure.

Sorry to hear of your loss too Ed.

Take care out there guys. I ride to get a break from everyday life and forget about everyday things, and it works which is why I love riding, but because it works it's easy to forget about those loved ones you could leave behind too.
