Fry up, if they're grey ones you can shoot them.

Do they do any damage? I'd be a hippy and live with them!
Otherwise shoot em and get rid of the access so you don't get more. But they'll be waiting for you in the Bardo, man!!

Grey squirrels are indeed classed as vermin. You could trap them, but if you do it is then illegal to release them, they have to be humanely killed.

You could smoke them out steve. Just make sure your out of the house before you burn it down.

HTH ;-)

Do they do any damage?

Yes. Little feckers. There's not much in my loft, but they are ripping up all the insulation and trashing cardboard boxes and stuff.

An air rifle is a good idea, I suspect a shotgun may do more damage than the squirrels. However it would be hilarious to watch and listen from a reasonable distance.

I'd be more than happy to pick the bastids off with an air rifle. Trouble is, once I open the loft hatch the blighters have scarpered. Not sure where they are getting in otherwise I would just block the hole.

Do a full recce around the house and see where they're getting out, then you can block that up and pick them off at leisure. Or you could get sighted in to a spot in the garden and bait it with some nuts and sit there with a few tinnies all hillbilly-like.

Semi auto gas gun, security light, a cushion and patience.

I'm gonna need plenty of ammo. My house backs on to a wood. There's thousands of the feckers. I'm gonna need plenty of tinnies as well.

Cool.
Firepower party at yours?

Probably best to just block the holes in your loft then just shoot any that are left inside!
But actually I'd still recommend a BBQ, they taste surprisingly good to say they're just a rat with a fluffier tail!

If they are Red Squirrels then bung in a few Grey ones....... that'll shift 'em

Failing that, t-wat 'em with a rolling pin.

This is pretty inhumane, but it works a treat on rats n mice, so should work on Squirrels too.

Mix Polyfilla (this one: http://www.polycell.co.uk/products/polycell_multi_purpose_polyfilla_powder.jsp) with something they'll eat (breakfast cereal works on rats) and leave it in the loft... the rest you can imagine.

Downside is you'll have to go in there at some point and remove your new Squirrel paperweights.

Treat them as low-committment pets. We hide bits of food around he place and they provide us with hours of entertainment.

Or, do what we did with our mice. Catch them carefully and then 'deport' them to somewhere nicer. Ours are now all residing in the posh flats up the road .

dont they chew stuff like roof joists and cables?

Never been in your loft. I spend most of my time hiding in the bushes out front.

As for a solution, go ninja on them. Hide in the loft perfectly still dressed all in black. Wait, wait for hours in darkness, lull them in to a false sense of security and then pounce attacking them with a Taser.

However go careful with that Taser, dangerous thing I hear...

Tell them to stop messing about and do something useful - ie clearing all your leaves. Two problems sorted out at once.

I thought loft spaces had to have air gaps all along the roof edge? This'll mean that it'll be almost impossible to block up the holes. Get a cat and put him up there with out food for a few days!

i'll lend you my python mate, he'll soon take care of that problem. he is a fan of attacking things bigger than him. :)

Brain fade says "Isn't there some sonic thing that admits a noise they don't like?"

You want em out of there before they start chewing on cables really...still that could also work out...

Damn! Got there before me! Was going to say that when you've finished playing the Dr Mengele's of the squirrel world, a dog or a cat would probably scare them away to a new habitat. No need for any gore.
